Hi I am currently on 225mg of Effexor and have been for about 14 years. I've just been advised by a psychiatrist to stay on them for my own health. I've been reading a lot of other threads on here and wanted to ask if a tone else went through having to face this decision and also the massive one of staying or changing drugs for breastfeeding? Some say absolutely no way can you stay on Effexor to breastfeed. Would love to know what you think?

you really need to speak to a psychiatrist who knows about pregnancy/breastfeeding and medication. Some trusts have a peri natal service and a specialist psychiatrist. Are you pregnant?

Not yet but went to psychiatrist before trying to comcieve incase she told me to wean off. She didn't. But also told me to get a second opinion so I looked online and found lots talking about their experiences on here

Try the breastfeeding network www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/ and they'll probably be able to tell you

Sertraline is the 'safest' for breast feeding according to my gp.
