Citalopram: Once your body gets used to ADs do you forget you are on them and feel normal?

I have just started citalopram. Already feel different and mostly good - some spells of nausea, tingles, headiness, dizzyness etc. My body is always aware that I am medicated, even when I feel OK.
What I want to know about medication, is that once your body has got used to it after 6 months or whatever, do all the side affects go away you just feel normal i.e. like you are not on medication at all? Or do you always know that there is something in your system because you get certain drug sensations from time to time?

The initial side effects only lasted for about a week, maybe ten days, when I was on Citalopram. After that I was fine - didn't feel as if I was on medication at all.

I'm on prozac, the side effects got a lot better by about a month, then by about 6 weeks dissapeared altogether.

I have been on 20mg Citalopram for nearly 9 months and am just weaning off them. I was lucky that any minor side effects only lasted a few days but it has made me feel better and I'm glad I used it to get me through a tough period in life, however I now feel ready to cope without the support of drugs, and hope it will help you .

Thanks for the straight answers! It's nice to get other's women's experiences of this.
