Dh has a flu type thing and a massive temp of 39.5. Our dds were v. ill this time last yr with weird viral things and dd2 was hospitalised twice. It left me with great anxiety esp. as ds was born around the same time. Now we have ds my anxiety is huge, and I am terrified that the dcs will get whatever dh has and get really sick. Please help me to get a grip and put this in perspective!

Glad to hear he was better yesterday Nearlythree. I hope that recovery has continued today. It sounds about right for flu: I was dreadful for 3 days but began to function a bit on day 4. Mind you, just as a warnin for you, it took me 3 weeks to feel completely normal again.

that's great that the doctor said that is was almost certainly not contagious nearlythree - i hope that helped to make you feel better about it. Hopefully after this you can have some respite from the bugs - warmer weather on the way now.

So glad DH is feeling better N3. It's alarming when adults get so poorly with viral things isn't it!

Yes DD did have chickenpox quite badly actually.. with clusters of spots in all the worst places, bless her. She even had some down her throat! I rang the GP to ask if there was anything we could do to stop DS2 catching it too because under normal circs I wouldn't mind (he's got to get it out of the way sometime), he is just so weak and feeble due to still not having shaken this viral thing off and I thought maybe he could be vaccinated if it wasn't too late (I know a chickenpox jab exists; just don't know who gets it!). The GP said there is nothing really we can do but one saving grace might be that you don't normal catch two viral things at the same time and being as he was already poorly when DD was infectious, maybe that will prevent him catching it this time. Fingers crossed!

Thanks DG, ruty and Shiny . Dh is still wiped out but o/wise loads better. I have a cough but don't think it has anything to do with dh's flu.

Shiny, I know, I wanted to get anti-viral stuff for ds, he was newborn when dd1 started with CP - so worrying - dd2 got it about 11 days' later. At least your dd has it out of the way now, I didn't realise until the dds got it when ds was born just how dangerous it can be to unborn or newborn babies - at least your dd won't have that worry. I'd heard that it's rare to get two viral infections together - hope it's true for your ds!
