went on AD when dd little she now 18m and i am fine emtionally so have started coming off them but am having horrible withdrawal effect, vomitting, upset tummy at least 10 times a day the tablets the doc gave me just constipate me me for days and then woosh it all comes out in one go if you know what i mean. am beginning to feel rerally depressed about the withdrawal, feel like throwing awa my AD's but am scared to hell my pnd will come back if i dont do it slowly. have already been coming off for 4 weeks and withdrawal symptoms all that time, have another 4 weeks at least until doc says i will finish completely - I really cant carry on like this

I have been ill on and off basically since december and that is getting me down too, and no sooner i start to feel a little better than dh says he feels a bit peaky and I am back in the driving seat with no break so he can rest up. dd is teething, up at night, coldy and coughy and the number of days I have had off work work recently is getting ridiculous, to the point where one of my class called me the name of the supply teacher by mistake the other day.

I really really need to feel better soon otherwise I dont know what i will do

everytime dd is ill i have to take unpaid leave and still pay nursery fees, and apart from this I think the school is starting to think I am taking the piss and they shouldnt have allowed me to go back part time.

Please somone tell me somthing that will make me feel better soon.

Oh, and to top things off, dd has a little lump on back of neck - dh said he noticed it 4 weeks ago WTF???????? so am terrified she has cancer or somthing. bugger bugger bugger,m just hate being me.

Have you tried imodium (which is a mtablet containing loperamide) to stop the runs? I have IBS and I usually take at least one most days, but it could help. Also your dr should at least have prescribed anti-emetics to stop the sickness. To be honest you really need to see another GP who is more supportive.

Gingernutlover - food-type remedies for the runs = rice, bananas and eggs. See if you can get loads of those into your diet. Might help??? Lots of luck.

Yes cut out all fibre until you recover. Don't eat too much fruit and veg, have white bread instead of brown and don't eat fatty foods. Make sure you are taking on enough fluids, you could also try dioralyte, that will replace all the goodness that you're losing through your tummy upset and can also help slow down the runs too.

Btw, if loperamide didn't work, it may be that you have an infection...the tablets are pretty effective usually (unfortunately bloating is a side affect). I wouldn't take your drs word for it, if this goes on too long you will not be able to work because you won't be strong enough.

I had the runs and constant sickness when I was pregnant and was not allowed to take loperamide...I ended up in hospital for a week.

thanks, more help than gp - not sure why hes normally very good and sympathetic.

will try the diarolyte and have been trying to eat as normally as poss (without too much fibre) but just not really hungry

okay,m update, more for my sanity than the fact anyone is interested

got sent home from work last friday after throwing up, annoucing to head I couldn't teach in that state and being shouted at by her for being a poor role model - really must look in teachers handbook for the proper way to be sick!

went to doc - saw diff doc, very very nice and took me seriously.

he said all my tummy related symptoms could be IBS which is treated by excitalopram and so I could have had IBS months but not know cos the symptoms were being masked. He said I needed a week of rest and promptly signed me off - hehe - and gave mne oil of peppermint capsules - combinations of 2 are doing the trcik I think

I feel really really angry it took that long for somone to take me seriouisly

also I asked him about the couch which is still around - 4 weeks now and not getting any better and he said that without a positive test for bacterial infection he would not give out antibiotics, so I have sent in a sample - i am going back to see him on friday but I really worried that if the test is negative then what will I do - the cough is so bad I cannot walk far, talk much or move about quickly without causing me to have long painful coughing fits - obviously I cant do this at school but I do have to move around the room, talk and walk - HEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP

I also have a 3 hour long parents evening on weds where I will not get a simgle break as it starts at 3.30

I also am being made to see all the parents in the class (I only work 3 days per week) because the head who is my job share partner has been off sick for a while with IBS and feels she doesnt know the children well enough to chat to their parents.#

I can just feel all the stressful feelings starting all over again
