Tight throat and jaw - feel like I will choke

This started a couple of days ago on a flight. I was convinced I was going to choke on the boiled sweet I had, my mouth went dry, the back of my throat felt swollen and my jaw felt like it had frozen.
The flight home I thought Id have a mint, and had the same feeling :(
I have started having the same feeling now, just sat at home trying to drink a glass of red wine. My throat feels tight, every sip of wine I feel I just can't swallow it.
I am feeling a little anxious about the fact the inlaws are over here for a few days and they are hard work. I just wondered if this sounded like anxiety, and how on earth I can get through this. I do not want it to turn into a big thing, and really would love a way to relax my jaw and throat to stop this awful feeling.

Sounds like you may be experiencing vocal cord dysfunction which can be horrible and scary.
Fairly safe to google and there are quite a lot of exercises you can practice and relaxation / distraction techniques which can effectively reduce symptoms.
Hope you find something that helps.
You may be able to access treatment with a specialist physiotherapist or speech + language therapist via your GP if necessary.
Good luck Smile
