Running out of meds what to do?

Stupid me forgot to reorder my repeat prescription (well I tried a few times didn't get through and kept forgetting as well). I have 2 pills left and the earliest I'll get a prescription now is Monday.

Should I take one every other day, or cut the dose in half each day?

Am on Sertraline 100mg, I have some propanolol to help as well.

Have you managed to explain the situation to your doctors surgery? I've been in a similar situation (for an inhaler though) and the doctor was able to sign a prescription to collect on the day.

either or should be fine. im on a similar drug and they have a fsirly long half life.

Still haven't got to speak to a real person at the doctors yet, but I'm away now until Sunday anyway so couldn't pick anything up later anyway, Monday will be the earliest.

If you phone the doc they will get a chemist to deliver it for you, at least that would happen here. All doctors here work with chemists to deliver prescriptions. If a prescription is on repeat they are normally happy to give you a repeat over the phone.

Going to try phoning again in a bit, on the train going away for the weekend now. Will look where the nearest chemist to where we're staying is. Fingers crossed.

If you have something in writing like a repeat prescription form or the dose is in a medical report, you can get an emergency supply of 5 days from a pharmacy. You have to pay though whatever the pharmacist chooses to charge. We found once that Boots told our daughter to go to a walk in centre and get a prescription, but independent pharmacies are more helpful - it's in the BNF about emergency supplies. On another front, controlled drugs cannot be supplied like this in an emergency.
