Clutching at straws for a chemical/hormonal cause

My psychiatrist has written to my gp requesting b12 ferritin and thyroid bloods be done to rule out these causes. Is it bad to be desperately hoping one of these is completely off kilter and causing all my health issues especially my MH issues? I feel like I'm clutching at straws as if they're normal then is this it? Is this me? Can I get better?
