I started on aripriprazole by injection today, bit scared about it but I am currently sectioned so had no choice.

Any experiences? Thank you x

My friend is on depot because repeating overdoses. She finds it very good.

I don't have depot injections but I do take an Aripiprazole 15mg tablet every morning. Initially I had some bad side effects (restless legs omg so bad!) but that gradually wore off & now I just have a tremor in one hand. Also it makes me sleepy but so do all my other meds so I just put up with it. I still manage to work.

But the difference it has made to me is amazing - from being paranoid & delusional (psychotic) to being totally 'normal' and 'back to my old (pre-illness) self' - it's really worth putting up with any side effects.

I didn't get sectioned so it was my choice to take the tablets but I think if I hadn't taken it I'm not sure what would have happened. I've forgotten to take it a couple of times and got very paranoid again.

Oh yes, definitely don't drink alcohol with it, not even one glass of wine. It makes the effects of the aripiprazole wear off for a couple of days and again, I got paranoid.

Hope everything works out for you.

I take a daily dose of aripiprazole and find it effective, with little in the way of side effects. I do get very tired but I'm not sure if that's the meds or a nasty little persistent symptom.
I hope you find it helpful and make a speedy recovery.
