please help, I think my friend is having a breakdown and I dont know what to do for her

shes so very low, she went to the drs and got something, I dont know what, she has told me she is terrified of how she feels

what can I do for her? I'd do anything, or take her to hospital, but I dont know what to do.

she has mentioned suicide.

All you can do is spend time with her. Ask her to stay if she doesn't have anyone at home etc. talk to her & be there for her. Show her she's important to you.

I don't know much about anti depressants (assuming that's what she has) only from MN & friends etc, but from what I can gather, most people find it gets worse before it gets better and it can take a couple of weeks to see the benefits.

She can call the Samaritans, but they can be a mixed bag.

You can always take her to A&E, they have crisis help.

However, you can't take responsibility for her, nor can you shoulder the blame if she does choose to take her life. You can't 'Rescue' someone who doesn't want to be 'rescued'.

Make sure she has eaten, showered, put on clean clothes etc. today. So instead of sitting in with a brew suggest a short walk even if it is just round the block. Will get her out and give her family a few mins breather. You sound like a lovely friend and hope she is ok. The best thing you can do is to be there, keep going round
