hi again!

apart from the obvious (in hospital, not always ideal) I went to my nearest MDF (since rebranded as Bipolar UK I think) groups, at the time that was Cambridge or Colchester (both quite a schlep) then I got some help and funding to start one closer to home, and then someone else started another even closer still and I suppose eventually I felt less need for them but nice to know they are there

in those days they ran self management courses which were pretty helpful and cost about £10 for a weekend in a trusthouse forte type hotel, don't know if that's still a thing

I also started my own website for when we were too badly behaved for the MDF forums and obviously became friends with most people there, some of whom starred in Stephen Fry's Secret Life documentary Grin and am still very close to to anyone I am still in touch with from those days despite detonating the website multiple times and finally for good a long time ago

I don't live in a bipolar ghetto and my friends who are not directly affected by the condition are no less valuable to me but sometimes it is nice to talk to people who already 'get it'

Hi again. Thank you I'll have a look into the mdf site. I just hope we can be more supportive to each other as my friends don't really understand.

it's a lot for people to get their heads round I think

the people I know who seem to intuitively somehow understand are not that mentally normal either

bipolar uk groups

worth joining the organisation, the helpline and legal advice and so on were always amazing back-in-the-day

Thank you very much!
