Hi, I'm looking for a counselling service to self refer to in East/North London. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks

Best to speak to your GP, they should be able to recommend someone locally if you are self funding.

If you can get to Central London Bonita Rayner-Jones is very good for CBT.

If you are looking more eastwards I can give you more options. Message me.

I have sent you a PM with a recommendation.

If you go on the BAPC (British Association of Psychotherapists and counsellors) website and put in your geographical area - dozens will come up and you can see their details. Thing is about counselling what might suit one person may not suit another - I was recommended to someone by a good friend and I just wish I'd never met her - she caused me a lot of distress. The main thing is that you feel comfortable and safe with someone and a good therapist/counsellor will use the first session to see if you both feel you can work with each other in a therapeutic alliance.

I didn't like the one I went to the first time we met but stuck with her for some unknown reason. I won't make the same mistake again.

Sorry it's BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) If they are on this website it means they are properly qualified and accredited so it's best to find someone on this register.

Hi all I'm looking for recommended counsellors in and around North London. I was wondering whether anybody from this thread or not might be able to recommend a good one for long term therapy

Thanks xxx
