Does anyone have any experience of having anti-psychotics via depo injection

Hi I posted about this in the village thread but I know not everyone reads it.

I am currently in hospital under a Section 2 and I have been told that it is likely that I will be given anti-psychotics via a depo. This would be against my will (although it is unlikely that they would need to restrain me)

Has anyone got any experience of this? I am obviously very scared about it.

fluffy I have quite a few patients on risperidone and aripiprazole depots. What would you like to know about them?

Side effects what med they will choose actually having it (pain etc). Haloperodol and olanzipine have been mentioned. I don't want anything really (have been refusing oral aripriprazole) so its all a bit scary.

If you can try to take oral aripiprazole then I would go down that route. It's not sedating and does not cause weight gain. If you do go down the depot route then it will be mildly uncomfortable but nothing more than that. Both haloperidol and olanzapine are sedating, more so than risperidone, so just bear that in mind.

I would go for aripiprazole route. I was on it quite for a while and it wasn't sedating and a big plus was that I lost weight on it. I am on olanzapine atm and it's very sedating.

My friend in on depot and actually likes it in that way. Less hassle she says.

I don't want to take any anti=psychotics because I don't feel psychotic.

You don't sound psychotic so I can understand. But many people take them for various reasons like as a mood stabiliser etc.
