Grr. Jaw clenching, tremor on antipsychotic?

I can't seem to get a break right now. Over the last few days, I've had the following:

  • Legs jerking.
  • Left arm/shoulder jerking.
  • Left arm partly numb, spreading up into the left side of my face and ear.
  • Jaw tremor, later jaw clenching involuntarily.
  • Left hand tremor.
  • Slight tremor in right hand, difficulty writing as can't grasp the pen very well.

Has anyone else had this? What happened?

I've seen my GP, who is going to do blood tests, but I think that it's more than likely a Quetiapaine side effect. I've spoken to my CPN, who's going to talk to my pdoc, but she said it sounds Quetiapine-related. I already take procycylidine--according to my CPN, it should stop these problems, but it's certainly not!

I'm so fed up of freaking side effects :x

There are other options such as gabapentin available (alongside your antipsychotic), however, it sounds like you aren't tolerating the quetiapine and from a quality of life perspective your c/psych may try another antipsychotic instead.
Unfortunately psychopharmacology is very much a trial and error process but I'll keep fingers crossed that you get some relief / answers soon.

Thanks mrssmith, I already get really bad joint and muscle pain from the Quetiapine so have tried changing to pretty much every potentially helpful AP there is. Each time, I've relapsed and got very poorly. My pdoc (and myself) have come to the conclusion that we're going to have to keep going with the Quetiapine, but this is yet another problem to try to tackle. I feel like screaming right now. I am very 'good' at having side effects, often the unusual ones.

No advice but I am sorry to hear this scissors. I hope you can figure something out.
