I've booked to make an appointment to see a GP due to my anxiety and excessive worrying. I'm not coping.

It's taken me 11 years to make this appointment.

well done! I hope the GP is really lovely for you. There are tons of helpful things you can do with anxiety and lots of ways the dr.s can help you with it. Good luck!!

Thank you system Smile I'm feeling really anxious about it. Oh the irony!

The appointment is not for another 2 weeks yet, so a bit of waiting to do first, but still, picking up the phone was a huge hurdle I've just overcome.

Oh, well done! That's such a huge, huge step you've made there. Good luck with the appointment - but remember you've made the most difficult step already and you have admitted to yourself that you would like some help. Well done.

Thanks for your support, it really helps!

Very interesting about exercising ryan, it's something I've wanted to start for a long time but just haven't. I do zero! Will read your link now, thanks.

Good for you. Admitting that you need helping and taking steps to get it is half the battle won.

spottybelt · 09/06/2014 17:12

Thanks lasting

I've known I struggle with life for a long time if I'm honest, I've never had the strength to seek help. My life has recently gone up a gear and I'm struggling more than ever which is what's promoted me to do this. I'm scared! Grin

Well done, Spotty! :)

You have just done the hardest bit. Never underestimate what you've achieved today Thanks

MisForMumNotMaid · 09/06/2014 17:20

Virtual back pat.

If you've got a two week wait would you consider keeping an anxiety diary for those two weeks to show at the appointment?

I find sometimes i'm all prepared to go and say what I want at appointments then find myself saying oh really things aren't to bad and playing it down, when really its the time I should be completely honest.

Wolfiefan · 09/06/2014 17:22

YY to keeping a diary.
Another person who finds exercise helps.
Good luck. xx

User1505 · 09/06/2014 17:23

Yay! You'll feel so much better. And remember there are so many people that suffer with the same. Hope it goes well xx

SacreBlue · 09/06/2014 17:39

Most people find it hard to ask for help - you've done it - and a pat on the back from us is the least you deserve.

Like PP say, plan a bit of action to get you through the intervening days to help with the immediate stress, is a great help.

I am guessing that, as scared as you feel asking, the relief of having someone knowing, and being there to help, will be as good as a rl hug.

Keep going - even if you have a 'two steps forward and one back' moment you are still doing better xx

Queenofknickers · 09/06/2014 17:50

Well done Thanks the first step can be the hardest - good for you xxx

spottybelt · 09/06/2014 20:17

Thank you all so much. Your words of support mean so much.

Yes scared, but oddly relieved if that makes sense? Confused Like a weight has come off my shoulders.

Will keep a diary, didn't think of that.
