I asked my gp for the cipramil rather than the generic citalopram as i had heard thea the branded tablets can work better. However have just looked at my tablets and although it says cipramil on the box, the packaging on the tablets inside says "elopram/citalpram". so it seems i have still been given the generic tablets but in the branded box?

anyone know if you can take this while pregnant - my gp was quite undecided about whether it's ok

Hi I posted earlier.
I was on cipramil for about a year and came off them over a year ago to have dd, and bf. been off them ever since, and feel great, and I never thought I would not be on ad, as had been on them for nearly 10 years- perhaps dd has given me a bit more strength, but there IS light at the end of the tunnel, so hope you feel better soon.
P.S Dont come off tablets without GP advice cos they give you withdrawl effects if stopped taking to quickly- dizziness head rushes etc.

pigletandme, i read a lot about them when i was having a pregnancy scare (think it was just side-effects of the pills tho, am def not preg!) and i think they are prob ok. It is difficult to say for sure, because they can't test drugs on preg women as its unethical, but they go on research of those who did take them whilst preg and if anything serious was noted. I would say def discuss with your GP further, but I would expect they would have to say, these are the possible side-effects if taken in preg, you need to decide for yourself what to do. Its a difficult choice, but if you're feeling v unhappy without them, then to take them, even while preg, may be the better option?
