Woken at night by chest pain - repressed stress symptom?

This has happened to me a few times. I am woken in the middle of the night with a band of pain around my chest - like I have been lassooed - I cant lie down, or sit - have to walk around and nothing relieves it - I am in a lot of discomfort for at least 2-3hrs. I thought I was having a heart attack. The 2nd time it happened I called NHS direct and they sent an ambulence - did and ECG which as clear - and they suggested that it was a panic attack. This has started again - wondered if anyone else had experienced anything similar or had any advice on how to relieve?

I have had similar and it was acid reflux. It genuinely felt like a heart attack. I have suffered with panic attacks in the past but this was very different.

I got that and it was reflux/indigestion. Sounds more like that than a panic attack.

Look up how to stop reflux happening. Stuff like raising the head of your bed, not eating late etc.

Gall stones? Very painful, feels like a tight band around your ribs. Did you have any pain in your right shoulder?

Thanks all. Dont think it is anything physical as it only happens when I am severely stressed. I dont share - bottle everything up so as not to burden anyone.
