Has anybody had their NHS therapy denied it being too risky?

I was told that therapy might trigger a new bipolar episode. At the moment I am waiting for assessors decision. Otherwise I would qualify for therapy.

I have had similar bars to NHS therapy, at first I couldn't be referred until I was well (which is fair enough I suppose, eventually went on to have some individual CBT) but more recently was told I was beyond the reach of psychotherapy or something like that. I think what they meant was I am rubbish at talking about painful things and they don't have the skills to help me.
