And the doctor wants me to go into hospital. Am not expecting her to believe me as I do a bloody good job of pretending all is well and then crying in the toilets. Scared. Worried I shouldn't have told her but I'm sick of giving in to stigma. I do a v senior job in a traditional industry - mental illness is hidden. Do I really want to be the poster girl for depression? Confused.....

(((( Queenofknickers ))))

It is a good idea to tell your boss if you can, I'm sure they will realise that you are depressed if hospital is being recommended. You don't have to tell anyone else about it, your reasons should be kept confidential.

Look after yourself, do something to treat yourself after if you can.

Agree with Snowey Thanks

Sorry to hear you're struggling.

Thank you everyone - I'm crying again because you were kind FFS! I've suffered for years and been in hospital before a few years ago. Can't decide if I'm relieved or terrified. Feels like bad dream (cliche)

Your bound to be a mixture of both those (relieved and terrified), but you are truly being very strong to get and accept help. This is a good thing and you should be so proud of yourself.

Take some time to get yourself better and cross each bridge as you need to. One day at a time. I'm rooting for you (and I cry when people say nice things on threads too, so your not alone there!)

Thank you for thinking of me - I saw psychiatrist yesterday and he's basically sent me to bed with Valium for up to 6 weeks. I'm freaking out about being off work for that long Confused. I know I will get better - I have before - but I'm scared being "out" iykwim!!
