Weight gain / loss and antidepressants/antipsychotics esp Fluoxetine (prozac)

Hello, I have been taking Mirtazapine in combination with Olanzapine and have put on two stone. I want to lose this and have asked to have my antidepressant changed to Fluoxetine which has helped me with depression in the past. As far as I remember when I took it last it helped me feel more motivated to e.g. go swimming and either because of that of the medication I lost weight. I'm hoping that might happen again. I'm also cutting the Olanzapine right down to 2.5mg/day with the intention of stopping it soon.

Does anyone have any experience with these medications and weight loss or gain? Many thanks.

I take 75mg of sertraline & 2.5mg of Olanzapine & have no weight gain. I have been on those dose for nearly 8 years. On higher doses Olanzapine causes weight gain but my psychiatrist says at this low dose it doesn't affect weight.

Olanzapine piles the weight on.

I am on risperdone and fluxoetine and have not had any weight gain.

I was on 10 mg olanzapine and gained 3 stone my guess is it's the olanzapine causing the weight gain.

Thanks for the replies, Maybe I'll try asking for the risperdone instead of olanzapine if I'm still having trouble. The psych seems open to trying different things.

I piled weight on with mirtazapine but weight stayed normal with fluoxetine and risperidone.
