Has anyone had ads or anti anxiety meds whilst breastfeeding? I am seriously struggling.

I am struggling like mad.

I have crippling pn anxiety. Cant stop crying, cant eat, cant sleep. Convinced i am dying. Cant make plans or live my life.

The tears wont stop.

Being assessed for cbt next week but that seems forever away.

Thinking of getting an emergency gp appt.

Am bf dc4 who is 5 months. Still up twice tgrough the night.

Any advice?

I was prescribed sertraline while breastfeeding. Unfortunately it didn't agree with me at all, I ended up switching to escitalopram but by then I'd packed in breastfeeding.
Hops you get some relief soon.

Try Sertraline. I've taken it once for PND, and then I'm on it now for crippling health anxiety, and both times it has done the trick.

You have to persevere through the first week because it can make you feel a bit weird, but it has worked brilliantly for me and I feel alive again and am enjoying life rather than gritting my teeth to get through each day.

Really hope you are feeling better soon x

Thank you for your replies.

Jist back from the dr and got paroxetine.

Ali, do you still suffer the health anxiety? Has the medication eased it?

Hope it helps. Yes many ad's can be used in breastfeeding but the short term anti anxiety drugs are less often prescribed as less safe.

The medication has eased it hugely, really hugely and I am on a pretty low dose.

I hope you feel better soon, well done for going to the GP

I stopped breast feeding at 5 months and took escitalopram for similar symtoms to you. it worked amazingly well, to the point where I could enjoy my kids once again, and the baby was a lot more settled because I was, so I don't regret giving up BFing though I felt bad about it at the time. really hope things improve, the medication for me was wonderful.
