Citalopram - outweighing good and bad

Been on citalopram 10mg for anxiety and panic since October last year so nearly a year.

Good - anxiety not as bad

These are my side effects

Bad - insomnia
Weight gain (10 pounds)
Restless legs syndrome
Spaced out feeling
Generally can't be bothered

Hate being on medication but recognise that they do help the anxiety. Which was completely debilitating last year.
Aghhhhhhhhhh I feel so torn between wanting to come off them but being scared of the withdrawal and sliding back.

I had a bad two weeks getting on them. So obviously very sensitive to meds. I was supposed to up the dose to 20mg in January but managed on 10.
Had lots of other treatment, counselling, cbt etc. this is the first and only med I take.

Any suggestions ?

I had Post Natal Anxiety. I had ACT therapy with a clinical psychologist and worked on mindfulness. I also got back to regular yoga practice.

Hi does the yoga help?

I did think of trying that. Mindfulness helps me aswell.

Thank you

Yes. I find it very calming and I sleep really well that night. I always do an evening class rather than a morning class as I don't feel I need 'energising'.

There are a number of ACT therapy tools on You Tube that I used and found helpful. The 'passengers on the bus' really resonated with me.

Thank you I will look at you tube for that.
