I think i need somebody to hold my hand

A few months ago i reported a rape that happened years ago. Today the police are accessing my medical records to determine the date of the rape. They said they are speaking to him this week.

Feeling quite anxious and nervous.

Thank you. Its hard. Im scared im gonna bump in to him or everybody will know about it and think im lying. I just need to take it day by day knowing that im doing the right thing for me even if it is difficult

Yeah family know but i dont want to talk about it much incase they think im trying to be dramatic, is that the right word? Does that make sense?
Im the type of person that acts like everything is fine even when im falling to pieces inside. As long as i look like im coping when i see people i can fall apart as much as i want when im alone (which is most of the time)

I would very much hope they wouldnt think you were being dramatic.
But you know your family, and we dont.

Have the police offered you any type of support? But perhaps it is too early for that, I dont know.

No not been offered anything. Was having counseling which is what gave me enough courage to report it but ive now moved so dont have my counselor anymore. Did think about going to the doctor again to ask to be referred but after the response i got when i went asking about losing weight i really dont think its worth it

I dont know anything about counselors, but I would imagine that one that someone clicks with is important.

You could see another GP. In my general experience of GPs, they are all a bit different to each other.

There is 2 gps at the surgery and both as bad as the other. No other surgery will let me registrar cos im not in their area..

Ive moved 6 hours away.

I cant afford to pay for a counselor my self because im not working.

That is one of the things that has astounded me on MN.
The amount of people who only have access to a surgery with a tiny amount of GPs.

In that case, I suppose you would need to see one of them about accessing a counsellor, and hope he/she is ok about it.
I dont know if they are allowed to say no. I wouldnt have thought so, but I dont know.

In my area you can self refer for counselling if you google your local health authority and their mental health services it may come up.
You call for an initial assessment appointment then go onto the waiting list. I would think that the police or their support services would have some sway on getting you some help though too.

Im in scotland. I did some googling and have sent an email off to a charity. Will just need to wait for a reply
