It's been a week off them for me (nearly) Clare and I have what can only be described as a 'tense head', The clenchy jaw thing is back and my teeth hurt. Sad

Sounds like you are coming out the other side. Smile

Sparkling it's been really tough. Still have the slight fuzzy head but so glad I braved it out. Hopefully it will disappear all together soon. Keep in touch x

Just found this thread - you've probably all gone away now. I stopped taking citalopram a week ago - like Clarecad initially because I ran out. I have felt so much better - I didn't think I was missing my emotions but it has been so nice to have them back. I have been getting the dizzy spaced out feeling but it doesn't really bother me. It is not really unpleasant or debilitating (as long as it doesn't go on for ever). I am a bit worried though that things may get worse in week 2. Had a look at the surviving antidepressants website someone linked to and there are some concerning things mentioned eg neuro emotions. I'm hoping that I will cope ok as I start with a new employer next week (TUPE) and don't really want to be suddenly overwhelmed and bursting into tears (might give a bad impression Grin).

MegtheCat it's never a good idea to cold turkey, can you get liquid and taper down?

MegTheCat · 01/11/2012 20:20

Thanks for replying strawberry. I've got a doctors appointment now for next week. The last doctor I saw said to cut down by taking it every other day - which didn't work for me as I had mood swings. Just stopping seems to be working much better. Anyway I will check with the doctor.

Doctors generally don't know how to get people off these drugs safely and slowly, so I would take anything your doctor says with a pinch of salt, they are given terrible information themselves. As you've found out the alternate day thing is pretty rubbish and doesn't work for many many people.
Don't forget, if it doesn't work out for you, you can go back on liquid and taper down slowly.
