Im breastfeeding so i cant take any anti-d's, have been to see GP this morning and im so stressed out, im getting so i cant hold a conversation with anyone without getting stressed out or taking offence at things - i have got so picky and fed-up, but i really really dont want to give up breastfeeding, dd is only 6 months, my mum suggested i think about trying some homeopathic or other herbal remedies! has anyone else done this and has it worked and if so what did you take? ANY help would be GREAT! TIA

there are anti ds you can take when bfeeding

herbal remedies are things like Rhodiola and st johns wort - and I dont think either of those are recommended when bfreeding, sorry.

but you could go and see a homeopath, they would advise you well and give you remedies that are safe to take

Helen, are you sure you can't take any prescribed a-ds when b/f? Sorry, I have no personal experience to confirm this, but there are a/ds which can be taken during pregnancy and I would have thought that these were also OK during b/f.
I am a great believer in alternative remedies and there is a lot of anecdotal evidence in favour of St John's Wort but I have no idea whether this is recommended when b/f either.
I am so sorry you are having a hard time at the mo, I hope someone with experience of depression medication and b/f comes along soon to give you some detailed help.

Voila, enid. X-posted.
I don't like taking meds as a rule helen but I'd go for prescribed b/f-safe anti-ds any day over St John's Wort in your situation. Best of luck.
Chamomile tea can help relax at bedtime and that is fine for b/f, I do know that!

fish oil is about the only thing that might help, that i can think of, that is safe during BF.

fish oil(much better), not cod liver oil.

i own a health shop, i'll have a look when i go into work later.
