I'm currently 24 weeks pg and on 20mg daily. This is a recent increase due to feeling very low and anxious about the pregnancy.

I now feel brilliant Grin so positive and looking forward to the baby's arrival.

I know it's a balance of risks between what keeps me afloat and what is best for the baby. I hate the thought of causing withdrawal symptoms in a newborn. But I also know that when I've stopped taking citalopram before I've felt awful and it affects my functioning.

Do any of you have any experience or advice on how to handle reduction/stopping?

There are ADs that are deemed safer in pregnancy and that will also allow you to breastfeed safely, like sertraline. Maybe you can discuss with your dr whether that is worth doing?

If not then maybe you feeling so brilliant and looking fw to the baby is worth you staying on citalopram for now?

Thanks madmouse. I'll check the next time I see the consultant in April, but previously both consultant and GP have said it's fine to stay on citalopram and no need to change. Confused

I've got a referral for CBT and ultimately I'd like to be able to cope without ADs, even though they make me feel so much better. hmmm, I don't really know what to do.
