Been feeling really drained and low in energy and generally bleurgh since Christmas. I went to the GP and he did blood tests for a few physical things it could have been which all came back clear. I filled a depression and anxiety questionnaire and I scored highly for both so GP prescribed sertraline and referred me for counselling. I hadn't expected depression tbh, but it does make sense as things have been getting on top of me a bit lately. Anyway, my problem is I started taking the ADs a week ago now and feel really shit. Had a few days with diarrhea/nausea but that cleared pretty quickly, but I'm feeling more drained than before. Literally knackered all the time and I don't know if its the depression or the side effects of the ADs. Has anyone got any experience of this? Not really sure what to do.

It can take a while for the side effects to wear off. What ADs are you taking?

Thanks for the reply. I'm taking Sertraline (50mg). Actually feeling slightly better today. I spoke to the GP today, too, who said it sounded like normal side effects, so not so worried now. It'll be worth it to feel better I guess.

When I went on mine i felt worse before I started feeling better. The side effects should clear and you should start noticing a difference soon x

I felt truly AWFUL on mine for about a week - I was so close to giving them up - and then a light was switched on and I was feeling pretty good and 2 weeks later even better and so on and so on....keep at it you will feel so much better soon. However if you dont feel better in about 3 weeks I would be tempted to visit your GP - some ADs dont suit everyone and you may need a simple change of dose or tablet. Best of luck in your recovery.
