I wasn't sure where to post this but ended up here as i have recently been diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression.

One of the ways I am trying to improve things is through daily outdoor exercise.

I would love some inspiration for good uplifting music to put on my ipod...

Ideas anyone?

Thanks!

I love to dance to zumba music, Shakira, J-Lo 'On the Floor'. We bought ourselves a family wii for Christmas and if I get the chance for twenty minutes to do a bit of Just Dance then I feel so much better. Otherwise any boppy dancy music on Now 78, 79, 80 etc such as Jessie J, or LMFAO gets me moving around the house.

I was at the gym and they played 'Don't stop me know' by Queen. Awesome. Have a look at the sport/exercise area on here there's a thread on good songs to run to which will probably give you some inspiration link here

Don't stop me now is great, Another one bites the dust and Killer queen as well.
Michael Jackson Don't stop till you get enough is another one, Thriller and Billy Jean as well.
I also love running to Coldplay XY album.
Something about those sweeping chorus that carries you..

Firstly, well done using exercise to help with your anxiety and depressions - it really helps and was the key to me overcoming mine.

I love music like Green Day, Blink 182 - great guitar thrashy stuff. But also Queen, as said by others, Beatles, old glam rock stuff - a bit of variety is great.

thanks guys! can just see me thrashing along to "don't stop me now"!!

so odd - i just put on a pretenders song and thought how much it lifted my mood - immediately dancey smiley instead of just knackered then i clicked on mumsnet and saw this thread Smile

so obviously i shall recommend the pretenders. i'd say remember the stuff you loved as a kid and download it all onto your ipod. the stuff you used to dance to or sing your head off too or learnt all the lyrics to in your bedroom Smile

I like a mix of old and new. I do have some eighties gems such as: Communards 'Don't Leave me this way', Erasure, Soft Cell, Kate Bush - 'Wuthering Heights' Blancmange, Blondie, Billy Idol 'Nice Day For A White Wedding', Kim Wilde. Also like new songs lsuch as 'Lightning' by the Wanted, Rihanna, etc.
