So been on Seroxat and various other ADs since I was 24 (am now 37). I have mild OCD and a phobia about tiredness (anyone else out there with this? have never met anyone...) and general anxiety.

I have been on Seroxat for 18 months since my last baby was born. Now am changing from 40mg of Seroxat to 40mg of Prozac as am sick of feeling soooooooo tired on the Seroxat.

Bit complicated I know...

Doctor told me to make the switch over straight away - no tapering of Seroxat, just 40mg of Prozac the next day and no more Seroxat.. 14 days later I am getting sick of the side effects - nausea, dizziness, slight manic feelings (although less tired wahhey!), phobia returned plus very vivid dreams sort of leaking into day time....

It doesn't help that I've got bad sore throat/cold as well, so generally feeling shit.

Anyone else done this switchover? Will it get better? Am I right to just hold on there (literally) and wait for symptoms to die down.

The pain is not being able to tell anyone outside my family, so having to deal with symptoms whilst trying to appear normal and switched on at work.

eurghhhhhhhh

any advice/general support/sympathy gratefully received!!

The half life of seroxat is only 24 hours which is why it is said that you can do a straight swap - however after 24 hours half your last dose is still in your system and so it can take a few days for it to completely disappear, but it doesn't explain your reaction.

It sounds like you are getting a very bad run of side effects with the prozac. Two weeks should be the turning point where you start to feel a bit better, so give it a few more days if you can, then see GP if no improvement.

It'll be side effects from the Prozac rather than withdrawal effects of Seroxat because the Prozac will counteract the seroxat withdrawal effects (and does a very good job of it).

I think you just need to stick with it. It should ease off soon.

I have in the past switched from Lustral (similar half life to Seroxat) to Prozac and it's been ok, hopefully if you stick with it the Prozac will kick in very shortly.
