I am fed up with having turned into a heffer since taking citalopram. But am definitely not in a position to come off it. It's really compatible with me in other ways.
Does anyone who has been on it, had same problem and successfully switched have a recommendation I could try switching to?

Hi, I was taking citralopram, and I had the mirena coil fitted sucessfully five yearsago and have had another one fitted last month. If you have had a child then I would certainly recommend it. Good luck.

GW100-Sorry don't understand the relevance of the mirena coil to the OP...?

RH - Suggest you discuss with your GP as everyone reacts differently to ADs even if they are in the same class e.g. SSRIs. I didn't put on weight with Citalopram.

SNRIs can be better for some, but is all really trial and error I think as to what works mentally and physically best for you.

Thanks TNY. Will have a go. GP doesn't believe citalopram puts weight on, even though I was the same weight for 25 years before taking it and then suddenly put on 20 lbs in 18 months. I could try other SSRIs, but seroxat and prozac didn't work in the past. Citalopram is brilliant in every other way. Funnily enough I know a few people for whom this is true - it works fantastically mentally -better than anything else - but they also put on a lot of weight.

alternative form of contraception.

Galleywench I think Citalopram is an anti-depressant, not a form of contraception :)

:) Unless you count loss of libido as an effective barrier method! :)
