Someone from the crisis team came out as planned as she was a bloody social worker! So now Im panicking, why would they send a SW?

Crisis teams are generally multi-disciplinary

They can comprise of Drs, nurses, OTs, SWs...

She'll be a SW specialised in MH though

Hope you're ok

I'm ok just worrying now. She was really nice and have got a psych appointment next Tuesday. I'm just scared that she was assessing my ability to look after my children. What if she goes back and thinks I'm too mentally unstable to care for them

As notnow says social services have specialised teams of mental health workers and they are nothing to do with childrens services or child protection. So please don't worry. In any event an adult services social worker (as in mental health)will not have the skills to assess your ability tocare for your children and that is not why she visited I can assure you.

I have worked on a 'crisis team' - as already stated in the thread, A crisis team is a multi disciplinary team - you could have been visited by CPN, SW or OT. Nothing to do with Children & Families.

her concern would have been you, with a quick glance at your children to check they aren't obviously mistreated. there are all sorts of social workers, it's too big a job for them all to do everything.

Sending a children's social worker out with a Mh crisis team would be like sending a dermtogogy nurse to a woman giving birth. both are nurses, but one couldn't do the other's job.

Thanks all, thats very reassuring. I just have this irrational fear of SS.

she was really very nice so don't know why I'm worrying so much. She even said she could tell how much I love my dc because my face lights up when I talk about them, I thought that was such a lovely thing to Say.

She will not be looking at that. I work in a crisis team. Trust me, our priority is your health.

No they are looking at your mental health but if they decide you need to go into hospital they will need to ensure there are arangements for your children to be looked after while you are in there .
