Anyone with experience of ECT? Being suggested for DH.

Anyone had any experience of this? DH is profoundly depressed, almost catatonic. The intensive home therapy team are involved and are being fantastic but the possibility of ECT has been raised. I have a medical background so do know a bit about it but obviously the prospect is frightening. Am hoping it won't come to that but equally if it's the best thing for DH then we need to consider it. God this is so stressful. Any other advice on how best to manage with someone that depressed, how best to motivate him, deal with small children asking questions gratefully received.

That's a useful thread, thanks. Good to see some positive stories. Fingers crossed it won't be needed though. He seemed a little less frozen (for want of a better word) yesterday.
