6 weeks today I'm going on holiday

SpiritOfEdna · 08/06/2023 15:16

This has probably been done to death but I am going on holiday 6 weeks today and need somewhere 'secret' to track my progress and I need to shed a few pounds otherwise I'll be living in a couple of pairs of shorts and a rotation of tops that I don't really like but are voluminous :-) 12 pounds would make me ecstatically happy, but I would be very happy with 6. I have a start weight.

I am not expecting a miracle but I have had success fasting previously so I am going to commit to for the next six weeks:

  1. 16/8 - eat by 6pm at the latest which means I can eat at 10am next day. I know I can do this
  2. Eat gluten and dairy free. This will help my ezcema prone skin enormously - again I can do this.
  3. Stick to 2 snacks a day
  4. Don't cancel any gym sessions - I have my second session of the week tomorrow.
  5. Go alcohol free. I share a bottle of wine once a week, but this tends to derail me massively not just with snacks/takeaway etc but with a poor night's sleep and chasing energy through 'cheap' carbs. So for the next 6 Fridays no wine.

Right, on track for all the first three today wish me luck :-)

Just finished tea right on time - no more food for me till 10am tomorrow

Plan for tonight:

  • get kit out ready for gym tomorrow
  • meal plan for tomorrow

Very pleased with day 1/40.

Can I please join you?

I also have a holiday around the same time. I haven’t weighed this week but have used MyFitnessPal to start calorie counting.

I'm aiming to do 16:8 but need to work out my window - I go to the gym 5x pw and some evenings don’t get home til 7.30/8 which is when I’d have dinner so I think I might need to do 8pm-12 noon?

I think I probably need to lose about a stone…maybe a bit ambitious in 6/7 weeks?!

SpiritOfEdna · 09/06/2023 09:05

@Pinkvici22 hello, the more the merrier :-) A stone in 6/7 weeks is probably doable at 2 pounds per week.

You are right though the key is working out your window. I can keep myself occupied in the evenings easily if I stop eating at 6-ish, knowing that at ten the next day I can have something, but if I shift it till later and therefore have a long morning period where I can't eat I just find myself clock watching.
So a good start to day 2/40 I've had my training session this morning and I can wait till 10 to eat.

Today's menu will be:

  1. beans on gf toast
  2. some kind of cottage pie + load of side veggies
Snacks
  • apple
  • protein shake made with chocolate protein powder and frozen fruit, loads of ice. It gives an ice-cream hit without the ice-cream.
Just tried on a couple of holiday dresses - they zip up :-) but could do with some lumps and bumps smoothing out :-) SoE

Day 2 and my eating window is about to slam shut 🤣

Its been a good day - stuck to meal plan although swapped out the apple for a protein bar.
Aching slightly from gym session this morning, so tonight is going to be a long bath with E45 stuff to soothe my skin.

Very pleased I have completed 2 days. Here’s to a successful day tomorrow.

Lol Day 4 today

OP posts:
pompomdaisy · 11/06/2023 19:56

I'm on a 15:9 regime, a 10 minute workout routine every morning and 10-15 minute rowing machine daily. I've lost 6 llbs so far. I started 3 weeks ago.

SpiritOfEdna · 12/06/2023 06:54

@pompomdaisy that gives me hope!
Day 5 today: 2 pounds down
I definitely need to incorporate a 15 min workout into my day - I have the kit, just not much space atm.
I stuck to my no-wine-Friday so 5 to go!
Today:

  • 2 meals, 2 snacks (ham and egg salad, protein shake, ‘something hot’, a piece of fruit)
  • eat at 10 finish at 6.
  • 15 mins on exercise bike + dog walk

Day 6

Yesterday's something hot and a piece of fruit turned into a salmon salad and a protein bar. Doggo got her walk.

I have been up since 5 so stuggling not to succumb to toast. I will wait till 10 - just an hour to go.

Today:

  1. beans on toast, protein bar, salmon salad + fruit
  2. walk the dog later when it's a bit cooler
  3. 15 mins stretching + get kit ready for gym tomorrow.
The scales hovered over another 2 pound loss today but bounced back up - sods 😄

Day 7.

I am 2.5 pounds down overall - so happy with progress so far and my skin is less crunchy due to not eating dairy - I did succumb to a small tub of HD yesterday but it was VERY hot; I did pay for it in terms of itchiness so lesson learned.
Today:

  • session with trainer this morning, so that is my exercise for today - I will be aching tomorrow
  • book an appointment to get my hair cut
  • 2 meals 2 snacks (beans on toast, protein bar, salmon salad, fruit/protein shake)
  • out to dinner on Friday so need to think of shuffling eating window around. There will be no wine as I will be driving.
That's it for today; onwards. SoE

Day 8

Got an invite to a wedding in October so that has added to the motivation to keep going beyond my holiday - I do have @28 pounds to lose.

Today:

  • 2 meals, 2 snacks (beans on toast, protein bar, salmon salad, 'not quite sure yet'.
  • long doggo walk later if it cools down a bit
  • try on the dress I would wear to the wedding
  • 1 gym session down, one tomorrow
That's all for today SoE

Day 9 - so I am 2.5 pounds down and I am track to lose 11 pounds at this rate.

Today:

  • 2 meals, 2 snacks. I have no access to a kitchen today so co-op pasta salad and protein bar for lunch it is and then out for dinner tonight. Am assuming it will be vegetarian and will be late, so will need to adjust tomorrow's start time.
  • 2nd gym session today, new routine so am aching a bit already, my knees feel a bit stiff 😃
Things I need to remember going into next week:
  • keep the blooming salad ingredients well stocked :-)
  • the exercise bike isnt a clothes hanger - use it
  • drink more water
  • 2 days out of nine have had dairy/gluten in and it def impacts my skin.
That's it for today SoE

Day 12. Didn't mean to go absent but it was a busy on the go weekend.
Did not stray too far but need to get back into the fasting window.
Today -

  • 2 meals, two snacks. (ham and egg salad, protein bar, soup (?), protein shake)

Hello @SpiritOfEdna , love tracking your progress. I started 16:8 today at 6pm😭
Had a shock at the doctors this week when I was weighed for the first time in ages and informed I’m overweight (I mean I already knew I was but hearing it out loud was not great!).

I’m going on a gym tour tomorrow and aim to start going regularly starting this week.

Can I ask, what do you usually break your fast with at 10am?

Bennyjoon · 20/06/2023 20:51

hello, I started just over a week ago. Also have a holiday in 6 weeks (plus it’s a big birthday) so feeling very motivated. Lost 2lbs first week.

Is anyone also calorie counting? I’m averaging 1400. I’ve heard you can muck up your metabolism if you go too low?

Bennyjoon · 20/06/2023 20:56

To add:
I go 11amish to 7ish. Start with a cup and some nuts, then have lunch at 1pm. I might have a snack about 4pm (when I get home) then dinner about 6.30pm. It works really well around my working day.

SpiritOfEdna · 21/06/2023 09:35

Morning - Day 14

Hello @Eastie77Returns enjoy the gym tour - hope it's a nice gym - it's alwasy good if you can look forward to going 😅I break the fast at 10 with the first of my snacks - either a protein bar or, now the co-op has restocked them (hurrah), a small tub of salt & vinegar peanuts

@Bennyjoon I am not counting calories although maybe I should bung in a couple of typical day's worth of menus just to see. I do know that I am ready to eat at 10am and am full after meals so I've been content with that so far. The second snack fulfills that 4pm energy slump.

Today:

  1. 2 meals, 2 snacks (small tub of s&v nuts, beans on toast, protein shake, vegetable biryani)
  2. Am aching today after yesterday's gym session so will either jump on exercise bike for 15 mins or do a yoga stretch session
  3. Up my water intake - it's not great.
Have a good day SoE
