Anyone else starting afresh in the coming days? I've dabbled in 16/8 in the past but then got a tummy bug and didn't restart.

I'm now the biggest I've been in 10 years and am keen to start taking some action to make me feel healthier and to lose some weight. 👋🏻

Aside from 16/8, I'm going to be reducing my carb intake (although still eating some) and ensuring I eat more fruit and vegetables.

Hello to any others who may be keen to join. I'll be weighing weekly on a Monday and using the Zero app to track my fasts.

@Skinnydecafflatte I hope your headache is better! Probably too late now but I would take the medicine. I can't imagine there are calories in the tiny bit of shell of a pill.

Welcome @fastingnewby! I, like @anothermadamebutterfly have (skim) milk in my tea and coffee. So far it seems to be working but if I need to, will go to black coffee only. I know some people are evangelical about the 'clean fast' but I find my compliance is much easier with a splash of milk in my drinks!

Agree with the planning @Whoateallthechocolate - its so important. Plus I just like having something to look forward to - we have so few other entertainment sources during lockdown, apart from food.

Have a fun lunch planned for today - my husband and I were both commuters into London and he's missing his work lunches terribly - Vietnamese/sushi etc. so we have started doing something other than boring chicken sandwiches on Fridays. Today is fish finger baps with microwave chips! Mccain's are only 158 cal per box.

Tonight is takeaway night - probably Chinese or Turkish...What's everyone else got planned?

Piglet89 · 29/01/2021 10:06

Hello everyone - I'm a bit late to this thread. but can I join, please? Have done 5:2 before, but I find fast days incredibly hard and get so hangry. And food is one of the major things I look forward to in this lockdown life!

So, thought I would try 16:8, as that somehow seems more manageable!

I'm 5 foot 5.5 and I just weighed myself - I'm 9st 9lb. I think if I got down to 9st, I would feel much more comfortable. Weight has been creeping on over lockdown, for sure and all my clothes just feel a little too tight, which isn't doing much for my mood!

Skinnydecafflatte · 29/01/2021 10:09

Thanks @ladybranstonpickle heads fine now.

Since lockdown Friday night has become pizza night here, homemade base and then chuck what we all fancy on. Last week I weighed and measured mine out and it came to 1024 cals so I was careful with what else I had during the day to try and keep to 1400 ish. I’m doing dry January otherwise after this week of homeschooling I would be diving headfirst into a vat of wine!

Well done @Whoateallthechocolate I’ll have my fingers crossed for Monday, my weigh in day too, I’m hoping for 2lb 🤞🏻

Hoping to go out for an hours walk later although it’s just started tipping it down.
Hope everyone had a good weekend.

namechangefail2020 · 29/01/2021 14:52

So chuffed that I'm on 8lb loss in just under 4 weeks. This is really the best diet ever. I am going to celebrate with wayyyy too many alcohol calories tonight and not fasting in the morning but will keep tomorrow calories in check. Can't be good all the time can we :-)

Whoateallthechocolate · 29/01/2021 18:42

Well done namechange. That's a result!
I am sitting here with a sparkling water repeating to myself that I want to be thin more than I want gin!!

feliznavidad2 · 29/01/2021 23:02

Sounds like you're all doing a fine job!

Managing to stick to my window here. We're also having homemade pizza (and I may have a long awaited G&T with it) tomorrow eve. Hope you enjoyed yours @Skinnydecafflatte

Hope you all have good weekends. x

OP posts:
ladybranstonpickle · 30/01/2021 09:58

Morning all! well done namechange!

Thoroughly enjoyed my Chinese last night with two glasses of wine. Felt tempted for more but was able to stop at two, as we had finished eating.

No fasting over the weekend so had two small slices of multiseed sourdough and a lovely latte (so much nicer than the Americano with milk!).

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

anothermadamebutterfly · 31/01/2021 14:36

Hope everybody is having a good Sunday. My weekend has been quite relaxed and I have managed to keep to the window except for a sneaky cocoa late last night. I hardly ever drink cocoa, but I had a sudden craving for it at around 11.30, goodness knows why! But overall good. We had takeaway pizza on Friday, which is a bit dangerous for me as I love pizza, but I was very reasonable and then DS ate the leftovers on Saturday before I could get to them, which saved me Grin. I did couch to 5 k on Friday and earlier today, finishing off week 3. Running is feeling easier each time, I don't know if that is due to weight loss or increasing fitness. But whichever it is, it feels good.

namechangefail2020 that is brilliant progress, and definitely a reason to celebrate!

Handbaghag I think some are counting calories, but not all. I suspect it is probably a good thing, but I find it complicated and time-consuming. I am trying instead to make sensible choices. I think that I will try this way, and hope it works, and if it does not, then will possibly try calorie-counting too.

I had an end-of-month target of 11 lbs, so tomorrow is the big day.

TeaAndBisquits · 31/01/2021 16:12

Hi All! I've been lurking for a few weeks abbé so far I'm super pleased with the progress.

I started 4 weeks ago and I have to say I've found it pretty easy so far.

I've been opening my window anywhere between 12-1 for lunch or a late breakfast with coffee and then closing it between 7-8 once we've eaten dinner.

I'm not really looking at what I'm eating in the window at all ( it's been reasonable heaving with carbs!) But I feel great.

The bonus is I've also lost 6.5lbs while doing it.

Over time the window is getting smaller that it was before and I'd imagine if I clean up my diet a bit more, things will happen even more. It definitely feels like a lifestyle change. Even my DH has taken to bringing me hot water in the evenings while he has tea and a biscuit now too so he knows I can't be persuaded to indulge once I've announced my window is closed!

januhairyfebruhairy · 31/01/2021 17:29

Well done TeaAndBisquits .I'm really hopeful for success on this. I've had false winds before - did the 5.2 and gained some success but now I don't fit into any of my jeans, I'm clinging on to some of my size 14 clothes not wanting to buy a bigger size and some things just look unflattering. I'm 48 and peri menopausal, have become my biggest ever - only 2lb lighter than when I was pregnant 20 yrs ago. I've recently had palpitations (probably menopause related)and in tests found my cholesterol was slightly raised. I am very motivated and am doing this just on weekdays. allanothermadamebutterfly I'm not counting calories but as a cholesterol adaptation I am haing porridge with a handful of nuts for my breakfast between 10 and 11 which is quite filling. This evening I need to eat soon before my window closes again... Good luck this week everybody.

januhairyfebruhairy · 31/01/2021 18:03

Just going to record here that I started on Monday 25th Jan at 11.5 stone. Not going to weigh myself for about a month but want to see the difference in my clothes first. I'm not that into weighing tbh but will be interesting to record in a months time...

januhairyfebruhairy · 31/01/2021 18:04

Oops. Meant to post last 2 on the 16.8 forum!

januhairyfebruhairy · 31/01/2021 18:06

😆 just seen this is the 16/8 post on the fasting 5:2 page. Apologies. I obviously lost weight from my brain last week....

feliznavidad2 · 31/01/2021 18:41

Hi all, 👋🏻

Eaten a massive portion of banana bread and butter pudding today. I think a loss tomorrow would be v lucky (and not necessarily deserved.)

OP posts:
feliznavidad2 · 01/02/2021 07:02

-1.5lb today.

Total loss since 4th Jan: 9lb

Good luck to everyone else who weighs today.

OP posts:
Whoateallthechocolate · 01/02/2021 08:04

Well done,@feliznavidad2, that's a great loss over 4 weeks. Can you notice a difference? I bet you can.
I am most grumpy. 11st1 on Fri, 11st on Sat, flickering between 10.13 and 11st yesterday which kept me completely on the straight and narrow yesterday even making myself mashed cauliflower to go with dinner yesterday rather than having mashed potato with everyone else. Wake up this morning, realised I've got my period and am bloated up like a balloon and am 11st2!
I am taking yesterday's 11st weight as my end of month weigh in. So 6lbs off last month.
Doing my back in has pushed everything back a bit so plan now is 10st10 by Feb 14th and then 10st 7 by the end of the month ... which is quite ambitious for me but, if I can't do it now, I don't know when I will. Yes, juggling work and home schooling is a nightmare but I'm not spending 2 hours a day commuting and weekends aren't being spent ferrying the kids to matches and there is nothing else to do!!

FASDE1517 · 01/02/2021 09:24

Hi everyone. I'm so happy to have found this thread today. Can I join?

I'm on Day One of my first 16:8 attempt.
Like many others, I've decided to keep the splash of milk in my morning tea. If I stop losing weight, I'll cut that later.
I'm 5ft and 145lb. I need 22lb gone, preferably 25. (That's the first time I've admitted this!!)

Here for the moral support!

ladybranstonpickle · 01/02/2021 10:11

@feliznavidad2 That's fantastic! Well done.

@Whoateallthechocolate Ambitious goal but well worth trying :)

@TeaAndBisquits Sounds like you're making great progress.

As for me, definitely still not seeing much change on the scale, but have just taken my measurements to compare to those from 1st January :
Waist: -1.75"
Hips: -1"
Chest: -1"

I have no idea if these are good, fast or slow, but its a loss so will take it!

Being prone to weight around my middle (the most dangerous area) I'm really hoping to shrink even more and reclaim an hourglass shape!
My current hip to waist ratio is 0.9, apparently 0.85 is the maximum it should be to minimise health risks.

FD today, just drinking some coffee with hot milk. No idea what to have to lunch today - suggestions welcome! We have shakshuka tonight, so that's very light.

Anyone else fasting today?

ladybranstonpickle · 01/02/2021 10:11

that should be 0.91 :)

januhairyfebruhairy · 01/02/2021 10:54

ladybranstonpickle encouraging measurement changes! Well done!

Skinnydecafflatte · 01/02/2021 12:03

Morning!
0.8kg loss this week which equates to 1.8 lbs. pleased with that as it’s my second week, 8.5lb off so far. I’m expecting/hoping to do 1-1.5lb a week from now.

I’m now 13st 6.5 and I’d ideally like to be around 11 stone (I’m 5 ft5.5) which seems a long way off but for now I’m trying to get to 13 stone by 1st March.

Finished dry January and will have a glass of Prosecco tonight to celebrate but then back on the wagon I think as it feels a waste of calories!

Well done @feliznavidad2
and @Whoateallthechocolate (I wouldn’t count this morning’s weigh in either). We can do this folks!

anothermadamebutterfly · 01/02/2021 20:11

Well done @feliznavidad2, @Skinnydecafflatte and @ladybranstonpickle

@FASDE1517 - welcome!

@Whoateallthechocolate - do not be too grumpy. I got on the scales early this morning and it was not so great, but you know what, I tried again this evening, and the result was much better! Hah! Not sure whether it is faulty scales or normal fluctuations, but as I usually weigh myself in the evening, I am definitely going with the evening result, which means that I have met my end-of-January target of 11 st. I am setting a new target of 1.5 lb loss per week, meaning a new target of 10 st 8 for the end of February (around 67 kg), which I think could be the same as @Whoateallthechocolate?

@ladybranstonpickle - I want shakshuka too now! It was one of my favourite meals as a child, and I used to make it for my kids when they were younger, but then forgot about it. Enjoy!

FASDE1517 · 01/02/2021 21:03

Thank you!

I found the morning surprisingly okay! I was hungry at lunch time but didn't go mad- one slice of wholemeal toast, one poached egg, tomatoes and spinach. I snacked on cheese and a cuppa and then a normal healthy dinner- with just one baby potato and a lot of veg. Just need to continue as I've started now.

ladybranstonpickle · 02/02/2021 09:14

Morning all!

Well done @FASDE1517!
@anothermadamebutterfly - I love it too. I actually think its one of the best hangover foods, although it's been while since I had to use it for that purpose

Shakshuka last night was delicious! Eggs are so good for FDs - I find them really satisfying for not many calories.

Doing 16:8 today as usual, but will have normal lunch - really looking forward to my tuna sandwich! Tonight's dinner is a mini roast - we get these mini beef joints from Sainsbury's and roast Brussels and parsnips alongside it. Only 40 mins so I can do my yoga while it cooks.

Polishing my Halo this week as I completed the "Breath 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene in on Monday. Did the next one last night but not sure if I should continue with the Feb one or perhaps do last year's January programme. The Feb calendar looks like the practices are all bit short...Anyone else doing it?

feliznavidad2 · 02/02/2021 09:51

Sorry, haven't been the best at replying to everyone.

@Whoateallthechocolate I would do exactly as you've done; scales are so bloody temperamental. You've got this. 👊

Re. Me, yes I can feel it - still got a very long way to go but it's nice when I look down and realise my tummy isn't quite so protruding. 😂

Welcome @FASDE1517 - the more, the merrier!

@ladybranstonpickle that's fab progress! Wish I liked shakshuka as it's so cheap and nutritious looking. Might give it a try - I'm funny about eggs although getting more into them as get older. 4yo would live on them...

Hope you enjoyed your prosecco @Skinnydecafflatte - bloody love the stuff. And really good work on the progress, your targets sound manageable. 💪🏻

@anothermadamebutterfly - well done on meeting your target! Scales are so weird, I wouldn't mind if there was some logic to them but how is it that you can (sorry) have a poo and weigh more than later in the day when you've eaten lots of food? It just doesn't make sense!

All good here, it's my one day of freedom here (no work today and 4yo at playgroup) 🎉 celebrating with an exercise video and leisurely lunch with OH on his lunch break (at home, let's not get too excited) of a bagel with avocado, halloumi and chilli jam. 🤤
