I’ve just discovered Lo Dough,
It’s low carb low calorie bread and pastry substitute that makes great pizza based! Really low calorie! It’s a revelation. Well it is to me.
Not cheap though.

lodough.co/pages/stockists

Sorry if it doesn’t come up clicky.

teta · 14/06/2019 15:33

@Ohyesiam I've just ordered some of that - 8 pieces!
Hope it's good . I really miss the occasional pizza .
I've just made Vietnamese beef ball noodle soup .
I will have it with zero noodles, been sprouts, chilli and basil .
It's pretty easy to make the beef balls - just mix mince with chopped spring onion, garlic and 2 spoons lemon grass and bind with one egg white. Cook in beef stock with a cinnamon stick and 3 star anise. Tastes delicious.

Ohyesiam · 14/06/2019 16:32

teta where did you hear about it? I was defecting onto the boot camp keto thread. Don’t know what made me look, Ive never clicked on it before.

teta · 14/06/2019 17:46

Just now ........from you Grin

SegregateMumBev · 17/06/2019 15:19

Ohyesiam · 19/06/2019 08:27

How did you get on with LoDough @Teta ?
I was underwhelmed....

How can I get hold of last week’s daily fail recipes?

teta · 19/06/2019 22:41

It hasn't arrived yet @Ohyesiam.
Apparently it went to the wrong post office.
But now I'm worried as I have 8 pieces coming .I'm also very bewildered by the increasingly bizarre recipes I'm being sent for it.

SegregateMumBev · 24/06/2019 09:38

A week's worth of dinners:

Mon: Caesar salad w tofu
Tues: Hot and Sour soup
Wed: tofu stir fry
Thurs: Caponata (aubergine and tomato stew)
Fri: Baked cod and chorizo w med veg
Sat: Paella (cauli rice for low calorieness)
Sun: Tofu and teriyaki stirfry w zero noodles

Bit samey this week - I'm the only tofu eater in the house and it takes some effort to get through a whole block!

Ohyesiam · 04/07/2019 12:40

@teta has your lo dough Arrived?
I wasn’t impressed. I guess it’s a vehicle for pizza toppings, but it doesn’t bring much.
Might be good if I’m on a premenstrual carb crave protein guess.

Snowglobes · 14/07/2019 17:04

@SegregateMumBev your meal plans sound great but I can’t find the recipes you are doing. Could you please post them here? Your caponata; baked cod & chorizo; paella please!!

Snowglobes · 14/07/2019 17:13

Welcome back therein!

Here's the recipe thread, I always forget about it!
Blood sugar diet recipe thread and menu planner www.mumsnet.com/Talk/fasting_diet/3325444-blood-sugar-diet-recipe-thread-and-menu-planner
Please feel free to post any recipes on there, or any on the go things you find that are useful on the plan.

1st September weigh in and I'm a few pounds up overall after the summer, weighed in at 10.9, about 6lbs above my lowest ever weight, 10lbs above my vanity target weight, and about 2-3 above my start of the summer weight! So yes, it could be worse, but yes, 6 weeks of reinventing the plan to allow wine, cake and other treats is definitely showing!

Dh is out playing football this morning, so I am pottering about doing jobs although I have a stinking headache. I am hoping to run later, but that depends on my headache going (and it's not carb related, certainly not carb flu!)

I've cleaned out my fridge and my cupboards and rejigged my menu for the week a little bit to use up some store cupboard things. I have a tin of jackfruit so I'm going to do a slow cooked vege Moroccan tagine with chickpeas for tonight instead of lamb. I also have multiple bags of red lentil pasta so I'm going to make a tuna pasta salad as well. Those two will bump the carbs up a little today, but it might be good to ease in gently into the low carb way again

holycowvegan.net/vegan-jackfruit-lamb-tagine/

Made this today, I have never tried jackfruit before but it looks like meat, flakes like tuna, and in the name of experimentation I thought I'd give it a go. The recipe uses dried fruit, but does serve 10 so not a huge portion,

Cottage cheese crustless quiche

• [6x] Small (41g) Eggs, Whole, Raw
• 30g White Mushrooms, Raw
• 50g Diced Onions
• 50g Red Peppers, Raw
• 300g Cottage Cheese, Plain
• 60g Cheddar Cheese
• 50g Ham

I dry-fry the veg so it is fairly dry first, then mix everything, add whatever herbs I fancy and cook for about 30 mins. Four servings at about 250cals each.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/09/2019 17:30

Love a crustless quiche! Have you seen them where the crust is made of bacon???? Keto-tastic!

frumpety · 08/09/2019 11:54

I am going to the supermarket and could do with some instruction on what to buy so I can plan meals this week.
Can anyone their usual weekly shopping lists please ?

bridgetreilly · 13/09/2019 19:42

frumpety I would plan the meals first and then work out the shopping list! But usually mine includes:
Full fat yoghurt
Frozen blueberries
Milk
Cheese
Cottage cheese
Little gem lettuce (to use instead of bread for lunchtime 'sandwiches')
Cherry tomatoes
Other salad veg (celery, carrots, cucumber, peppers, avocado etc)
Cans of tuna or smoked mackerel fillets
Eggs
Meat
Vegetables (but not root veg)
Couple of cans of lentils or beans
Maybe some bacon or ham
Nuts

I have yoghurt, blueberries and a few chopped nuts for breakfast everyday.

Lunch might be tuna mayo in lettuce, or the no-carb ploughmans, or mackerel pate with veg sticks. Usually I'll have a few cherry tomatoes and a couple of walnuts too.

Dinner is usually meat and veg in some format. I like to roast the veg with a splash of olive oil and some sea salt (tenderstem broccoli is particularly delicious like this). Occasionally I'll do something like a white bean mash, or lentil curry. If I've got time I might make the fish pie or moussaka from the BSD book and freeze some portions. In the winter I love the cauliflower cheese recipe, either on its own or as a side dish.

Maranello4 · 30/09/2019 06:50

Great thread! Thanks for sharing your recipes....would be interested to see some new breakfast ideas 😀

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/10/2019 10:01

@Maranello4

I don't usually eat breakfast but at weekends I'll have eggs, bacon and avocado, or Mexican/ranch eggs (spicy tomato sauce with veg and you poach the eggs in the sauce, very tasty!)

Thank you 😊A big thank you to the breakfast muffin poster at the start of this thread. Made them this morning and really yummy! (Eggs, water, cheese, sausages)

Maccalenny · 03/11/2019 08:46

A quick and filling meal, around 350cals depending on brands etc. This makes enough for two portions.

4 Quorn Sausages
Packet of Merchant Gourmet Tomatoey French Puy & Green Lentils
5 Cherry tomatoes Cherry Tomatoes, Fresh
50g Asda Vegetable Base Mix ( or can just use onions)
6 jalapeño-stuffed olives
50g soft cheese (25 per portion) to mix in or as a topping.

Dry-fry the veg and sausages till done. Add lentils and a bit of water, cook till lentils are heated. Stir in soft cheese, or serve with soft cheese on top.

I also add garlic, mushrooms, chilli, herbs, depending on what I have that needs eating up.

Easy fish pie.

Usually turns out around 350 cals per portion, depending on how much cheese you use and what veg you choose.

Cook a bag of fish pie mix and a bag of prawns in a bit of milk in one pan.

Boil a few eggs.

Cook some mash of your choice - I love turnip and currently. Mash and mix in a bit of hard cheese - about 50g works well. Use some of the milk the fish has poached in, if you need liquid.

Dry-fry some veg, eg garlic, onion, peas, spinach.

Mix the veg and fish. Add a tub of soft cheese - Philadelphia garlic and herb works well.

Put it into a suitable ovenproof dish. Put sliced eggs on top. Top with mash.

Bake in oven for about 30 mins.

Enjoy!
