Spaghetti, I have no idea how you manage without coffee. If I didn't have it I'd have to shoot up speed or something.

I've got some 85% chocolate in the kitchen. Oddly, a small piece hits the 'sweet spot'.

I think that any significant bending of the rules right now as far as sweets/biscuits go would end in a horror binge.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/10/2017 09:11

I drink far too much strong coffee. We have a dolce gusto which we used to use as an occasional treat. We now use it a lot, it's terrible really, and so expensive. I did buy some nice instant last week to cut down our coffee bill but it's just not as nice. I definitely find it curbs my sweet cravings, but most likely because we crave sugar when we feel tired (which coffee would help with) and we also get a little dopamine boost with sugar (and with coffee) so they can offer similar benefits. I have often thought though that my afternoon sugar slump is directly linked to my coffee addiction (lots of reading out there about cortisol and insulin) and that I really should cut back. I don't drink tea after having ds as it brings back the memories of HG. I used to love a hot lemon squash but haven't had that in ages- might try this afternoon.

Feeling rubbish today. I'm determined to get back into that lovely BSD headspace. I have loads to do today to keep busy so hopefully I can navigate the day. Have a good one!

God I'm doing awfully. This morning I was so tired I had muesli for breakfast. MUESLI. How un-BSD can you get? It's been such a tough week at work. Last night I had a three course meal with clients including two glasses of wine and a booze truffle ShockHowever I have made a chicken stir fry for my lunch and despite there being noodles in the fridge I could have added I threw them in the bin and just have veg. I'm trying to remember a small step is better than no step at all...

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/10/2017 12:29

Geeup I miss cereal more than any other food. I have porridge dreams.

My lunch today. Trying to stave off my 4pm slump so having more calories than I normally would, coming in at around 350.

Down to 98.6 kgs 😀 started at 105.8 in the middle of week 5.

geeup · 12/10/2017 19:42

Congrats on hitting the double digits! Amazing progress!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/10/2017 21:27

That's great Ramsay well done!

I've had another ok day. Not brilliant. Haven't calorie counted, but haven't gone off plan except a small taste of a gingerbread bat cookie for the PTA Halloween disco tomorrow (didn't want to poison lots of young children....)
Still feeling really flat and demotivated to be honest although looking forward to tomorrow- day without ds, hopefully should get time for a run and time to do a few of the more pressing chores that have been stressing me out. Quietly dreading the weekend because I struggle at the best of times so with temptations around and feeling crappy too, I can't promise anything- but will promise to try!!

Hi all. Been good today so far! Just done a 2.5k run which I really didn't want to do, but now feel much better for so i must remind myself that I do actually enjoy it once I get going.

Food ok today, just had avocado and Ham and cheese for lunch. PTA function tonight so hopefully that will keep me out of the kitchen.

geeup · 13/10/2017 15:53

You're doing amazingly. Well done! I have fallen off and eaten hula hoops and sushi. I just cannot get back to it! I think I need to have a good sleep and drink lots of water...

APlaceOnTheCouch · 13/10/2017 17:27

Excellent WI Ramsay - you're our BSD Star this week Grin

bear well done on your run. You're making good use of your treadmill and it's great that it makes you feel better.

geeup sleep always helps. If you're not sleeping properly then your weight loss will stall. Hope you have a good nap.

I've not had the best of weeks from a BSD pov(I'm probably averaging 1000 cals rather than 800) but luckily the place I went for lunch today had some amazing salads so I'm in a better place than I thought I'd be this evening!

ICJump · 14/10/2017 03:23

I've had a good few days. Down to 109.3! So super happy with that.

I've got a tricky food question.

I'm going away for a conference next weekend. I'll eat conference food Saturday and Sunday but dinner on Sunday night will be on the road. So I'm trying to think of something suitable to take for Sunday dinner. At the moment I'm thinking a can of tuna probably flavoured, or a diet bar (slim fast or something). I could maybe skip dinner too. Fill up my thermos with ginger tea before leaving the venue.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 14/10/2017 10:17

109.3 is great ICJump you'll definitely make your Christmas target!
I usually take some deli meat, a little cheese, some nuts and/or some flaked smoked salmon if I need to eat on the road. I try to make sure I have more than enough so I don't get tempted by the non-BSD food at services. Although, depending on where you're driving from, there are some amazing farm shop services where you can buy fresh food and salads.
I'm still averaging about 1000 cals per day this week. It's the start of the school holidays here so I'll need to be extra vigilant to try to get back on track.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/10/2017 18:44

If I was shopping on the road I'd try for one if those petrol stations with a convenience store attached, get some ham, babybel cheese, nuts or something? You are in Oz though? Do they have this sort of thing out there- we have an m&s food one by us, also a spar one and co-op one (like a mini supermarket attached to petrol staying on the motorway services)

Good day in terms of lots done- we've hacked down 2 massive shrubs and removed a fence. Our house is transformed by all this new light flooding in- however food wise, not so good. Bread, cookie, pork pie. Also had a banana for the first time in probably 2 years doing BSD. And wine tonight. So not great. But life happens doesn't it? It's actually been an awesome day, happy kids, jobs done, Saturday tea time, probably a movie later. All good in the averagebear household!

OP posts:
ICJump · 14/10/2017 20:46

Yeah in OZ so Thestops are likely to be petrol stations with food so not great options.

I'm thinking I take a small pack of nuts, a can of tuna and a small hut milk.

Oblomov17 · 15/10/2017 17:08

Flying back from Budapest now. Have eaten my weight in fried cheese and cocktails.
Will catch up on thread tomorrow.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/10/2017 18:53

Disastrous weekend. Just terrible. Gazillions of calories. I'm not even going to attempt to redeem myself.

Tomorrow I'm back on it but today I don't even care!

AvonCallingBarksdale · 15/10/2017 20:02

Not a great weekend BSD-wise. DD passed her 11+ on Friday, so we went out on Friday night - Thai food, wine, the lot, although at least I only had one spoon of white rice Grin. Ended up having a couple of sweet potato fries yesterday and then today's been a shepherd's pie with actual mashed potato, followed by apple pie and Wine Grin. I'm down 14lbs after 4 weeks, so I'm happy with that, and I'm restarting week 1 tomorrow - going to make a conscious effort not to drink in this 4 week stretch - very keen to make it 28lbs after the 8 weeks, but not sure how realistic that is... Good luck for the coming week, everyone.

ICJump · 15/10/2017 20:28

Fried cheese and cocktails sounds fun.

And celebrating 11+ is a good thing to do.

I had a relaxed day yesterday and over ate nuts and dinner so have put on a little.

Also wondering if anyone's periods have been odd while doing the diet? Mine is 5 days late, I've tested this morning and it's negative.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/10/2017 20:52

IC mine were haywire for a while and still are weird, with either completely zero pmt and just creeping up on me, or awful pmt, and terrible hormonal eating. I have pcos so have always had a fairly weird cycle, very short with very heavy periods.

Glad there's been some good results as well as the misdemeanours of the weekend. I hate the weekends; I can do so much damage in those 2 days. I feel like my eating is so chaotic these days, this week has been horrible with virtually every day ending with some kind of major pig-out. I'm feeling pretty low at the moment generally, but I do wonder if aiming for such low calories is just setting me up for failure, and whether that prospect of failure is just too much. My good weeks are very good, but my bad weeks are awful. I had a great week last week but this one just gone has been terrible and that's pretty much my regular pattern.

I'm hiding the scales this week and going to try to go back to basics again. I need more sleep and this isn't helping but there's very little I can do about it. Sorry to sound so glum but I'm just so utterly pissed off with myself for the fact that I keep on doing this to myself.

OP posts:
APlaceOnTheCouch · 15/10/2017 22:30

IC my periods changed too. My cycle was always regular but became erratic with longer gaps some months.
Oblomov your break sounds fab - I love cheese and cocktails.
bear I know exactly what you mean. I think one of the problems with BSD is that switching to a Med diet doesn't seem to be enough but sticking to 800cals/low carbs isn't sustainable. I wish they'd write another book to address that and to discuss the impact on hormones and period cycles.

ICJump · 15/10/2017 23:50

It's arrived now! But interesting that other are having changed cycles.

I wonder if the period weirdness is partly because we are playing around with the endocrine system by reduce food and therefore chancing the amount of insulin being produced.
The being late then getting a negative result has also made it clear to me that I really want another baby. But I don't want to be this size and fall pregnant. Well really I don't want to be this duz with a new born.

Bear that sounds like a really hard place to be in mentally. I've found doing weightloss hypnosis quite helpful in the past. I just use an app. It hasn't helped me lose weight but rather given me some positive thoughts about my body and taking care of it.

Oblomov17 · 16/10/2017 09:39

Bear I totally get all of the ‘mental work’ this requires. And how some weeks you are totally ‘on it’ and other times so bad, it’s catastrophic!
I am similar.

Oblomov17 · 16/10/2017 09:40

Meal in Budapest. Quite BSD.
