Feel very anxious about tomorrow's lack,of food!

Here's my plan

Breakfast : 1 crumpet with a smidge of spread and cup of tea 130 cals

Lunch: 2 Aldi sesame crackers, slither of ham and satsuma 120 cals

Dinner: tin of Baxters scotch broth soup 130 cals, yoghurt 90 cals

2 cups of tea during day.

Does this sound good?

Hi katy welcome aboard!

We share the same fast days and I'm off work today......so far been sticking to my plan but the day is young!

I don't use Splenda so can't help you there.

How's your day going so far?

OP posts:
KatyCustard · 25/06/2013 11:16

Hello BaconAndAvacodo (your name makes me hungry Wink !) I'm doing OK so far. Absolutely nothing to eat yet, and two black coffees. I decided that as Splenda is very low calorie to just go for it; happy to be corrected though.

I'm JUST beginning to feel peckish, not sure if not having ANY breakfast is allowed? I haven't got to that bit of the book yet! I was quite ill before Christmas with colesititis (SP?) resulting in my gallbladder being removed. Even though it's gone I still find eating too much fatty stuff makes me uncomfortable and I have IBS so wondering if this will help with all that.

All in all feeling quite empowered in a way, I'm not sure why, I've never felt like that on a diet before! Ask me again this evening, I might say different! Grin

BaconAndAvocado · 25/06/2013 11:36

Sounds like you're doing great katy

My first fast day was very very hard. I spent most of the day staring at pictures of yummy nosh on the Good Food website! Fast day 2 was unbelievably easier.

You've got me thinking about scoffing a B and A baguette, obviously on a feast day!

hillyhilly · 25/06/2013 12:47

May I join you?
3 weeks ago I had 10 weeks to lose 9lb, eminently doable or so I thought but this morning I've stacked on another 2lb! I was horrified ESP as I had diarrhoea yesterday (sorry tmi) and so no excuses available.
So far I've had a poached egg (I usually have two on a bit of toast)
I have the grand total of 4 prawns (leftovers!) with some salad planned for lunch and the kids are having roast chicken and veg for tea so I'll see what I can do!
I'm a bit concerned as I'm prone to low blood sugar (not diabetic) but so far so good, I low carbed last year and found that good for steady sugar levels which is why I have eggs for breakfast.
I could do with some 5:2 friends in mfp if anyone would like to share their username (mins the same - hillyhilly)

BaconAndAvocado · 25/06/2013 14:11

I am so worthy, just taken DS out for lunch (a grown up treat as he's doing his work experience!! Think I'm more excited than him!) and whilst he gorged on a tuna mayo baguette the size of a small torpedo, I happily munched on a small salad of lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes.

Hello hillyhilly

Yum, poached egg sounds nice.

What is mfp?

Cat98 · 25/06/2013 14:49

Hello Katy and hilly, welcome aboard!
Glad you had a good weekend bella.
I'm joining today's fasters too (bacon your name makes me hungry as well!) I've had 140 cals today, saving the rest for tea. I'm ravenous today actually! Taking ds to the park after school so that should help pass the time.

Cat98 · 25/06/2013 14:51

Mfp = my fitness pal I think. I have signed up but don't find it great to use, I prefer calculating my cals myself at the mo!

Purpleprickles · 25/06/2013 19:15

Hello all and to Katy and Hilly. Katy, I skip breakfast on my fast day which I never thought I'd be able to do but I find I'm less hungry without it. I just drink loads of water through the morning.

Fast day yesterday and weigh day today. I only lost half lb from last week but that's 4.75lb in two weeks so I'm happy with that. I'm more pleased with my measurements, this week I lost 2" from my waist 0.5" from my hips and 1" from my thighs. I can do my belt up on a tighter notch too Smile

I'm getting bored with fast lunches, what do you guys have? I tend to have a slice of toast and save 300+ kcals for a low fat ready meal. So I'm looking for something around or just over 100kcals. Any ideas?

BellaVita · 25/06/2013 19:25

Hi all and welcome the newbies!

Purple I have a tin of weight watchers chicken noodle soup - 57 cals.

I fasted yesterday and am going to do Thurs and Fri (hopefully). Went to the gym yesterday and will go tomorrow, Thurs and Fri.

Next week I will be back to normal with two fast days.

I need to drink more water....

BaconAndAvocado · 25/06/2013 22:42

Oh dear......had to do a late night shop as forgot DS2 has school trip tomorrow and needed packed lunch.

Just gorged on some wasabi flavoured almonds.

Today's fast day has sadly transformed into a feast day......I've now probably had 800 cals-ish.

Worthy I am not Sad

I hope this was my one and only blip.........

OP posts:
BaconAndAvocado · 25/06/2013 22:44

purple when I am being good, for a fast day lunch I might have 2 Aldi sesame seed crackers and a slither of ham and cut up,cherry tomato.

Cup a soup and crisp reads are another one I like.

OP posts:
KatyCustard · 25/06/2013 23:22

Hi Bacon, 800 cals is still very little, chin up!

I have done alright today. 2 bowls of special k, one at lunch, one for tea. I got wobbly at 4 and had a packet of quaver type crisps (87 cals). But I'm quite pleased with that for a first attempt. I will get more adventurous with the menu!

Weirdly I have been almost manic today; so much energy I've managed to get loads of jobs done I've been putting off!

hillyhilly · 26/06/2013 17:04

I survived it fine, total was around 560 calls and I was hungry at around 5pm but it was fine and I managed to do the shred before breakfast this morning. Didn't get the shakes from low sugar which is what I was worried about.
Think I might try again tomorrow!

BaconAndAvocado · 26/06/2013 19:54

Get you katy and hilly , that's brilliant!

Had a much better day, oh yes it's a FEAST day! Of course I'm having a better day.

Still only had about 1200 cals so,far so,might treat myself to a few chunks of chocolate!

I too had lots of energy katy and actually did some exercise (bit of a swear words round these parts normally) and went for a jog/power walk/walk. It felt great and I may well do so,again tomorrow! DH was most in shock impressed.

OP posts:
Cat98 · 26/06/2013 22:50

Well done Katy and hilly, and yes bacon 800 cals is fine! Not really cracking just a little blip! Nfd here today, which was lucky as I needed some comfort food - had a bit of a rubbish day (told about an upcoming hefty pay cut at work for me; something went wrong with dh's car just as he's about to sell it; I dropped my phone And the screen cracked) plus we have a hideously busy day and early start tomorrow argh!
Anyway I'm not fasting tomorrow either due to afore-mentioned busyness- Friday will be my next fast day and I'm working all day, not sure if that will make it easier or harder, we'll see!

Good luck everyone fasting tomorrow. Oh and I'm down another lb - total of 4 in two and a half weeks yay!

Funnyfishface · 27/06/2013 00:55

Hi ladies can I join you.
I did my first fast day today. I would like to lose around 10lbs. Starting weight 9stone 3 so would love to be around 8.7
I am 5 ft2.
I see some of you have a similar amount to lose.
I will prob do fast days as Monday and wed but will do friday this week as my second one.
How are you finding it? Do you all exercise.

BellaVita · 27/06/2013 06:22

Cat, sorry about all your rubbish news Sad. Well done though on another 1lb.

Katy and hilly, well done to you too. Katy, out of interest when having the Special K what milk do you use and do you measure it out?

Bacon, as Cat said, 800 cals is really not the end of the world.

Hi Funny, I am finding it ok. I was a real coffee addict (must have used loads of milk) and I now only have two cups a day and the rest of the time I have peppermint tea. I have surprised myself with this as I thought I would miss the coffee but I haven't. Yes I exercise.

Which brings me to a question for you...

For those that do exercise, on your fast days do you put this towards your calories? So if you burn 200 cals, do you think well I can eat 700?

hillyhilly · 27/06/2013 13:40

I'm on my second fast day, ate around 1200 Cals yesterday.
I got up early again and moved to level 2 of the shred yay me (& ouch!)
I've been running around and gardening this morning and have just sat down to a delicious massive salad with some chicken at only 172 Cals.

I've have revived my favourite no fat, no cal dressing that also is a lovely meat marinade - in a small processor, whizz, ginger, coriander and a chilli, add some soy sauce and rice vinegar - voila!

I know it's naughty but I jumped on the scales after doing shred but before breakfast and was 5 lb lighter than on Monday! (Though I was 2lb heavier than usual on Monday), so it looks like I've,it's 3lb but I do realise that this is probably not a true reading, my actual weigh in day is Wednesday when I was 0lb down.

For those that were asking I tend to try not to use the calories I earn from exercise but I like that they're there if I need them.

GampyWabbit · 27/06/2013 14:45

Hi all, this morning I decided to start this diet. I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm starting to feel hungry!!

Please advise if this sounds ok as I have never counted calories before.

So far so far today I have had:
1 weetabix with milk
2 cups of tea
1 slice of chicken (22 cal)

What next?!

BellaVita · 27/06/2013 15:58

Thanks hilly, I try to "keep" the exercise cals rather than use them too.

I got on the scales this morning and it looks like all in all I am around 5lb down which I am very pleased with.

Gampy, is today a fast day for you? You need to drink lots of water or say peppermint tea which doesn't require any milk.

If you look up MyFitnessPal this will help you count calories and will tell you how many calories you need on a normal day. I think from memory you put in your weight now and the weight you want to be and it calculates the calories for you. You can then log every day what you eat and how much you have exercised - it shows what calories you have left every time you enter a food.

BaconAndAvocado · 27/06/2013 20:39

Thanks all for support Smile

Had much better fast day today. I think the hardest time for me is night time in front of the goggle box but I'm supping a ginger and lemon tea now and am looking forward to a handful of strawberries later.

Weigh-in tomorrow........

bella when I have Special K ( well, the cheaper yet tastier Aldi version) I always weigh my portion as a normal sized portion is way bigger than what's on the box!

KatyCustard · 27/06/2013 21:14

Hello everyone, second fast day here too. Yesterday was weird, I woke up early to go for an early-birds swim (get me!) and made myself have a small bowl of cereal so I didn't feel faint at the pool. I didn't feel the need to eat nearly as much as I usually do, and this morning I wasn't dreading the fast at all. I quite like not eating on a fast day until lunchtime I've decided, as I feel like I'm letting my body really go into "fast mode" - I ate at 7.30 last night (late for me) and then not again till 1.30 today so 18 hours altogether. I had one of those John West Tuna Light Lunches as it's quick and easy (at the office today), and then for tea another bowl of special K. Bella I do weigh them, I had a double portion with skimmed milk tonight for tea! Grin

I'm treating myself to a coffee with skimmed milk in now, and looking forward to a "feast" tomorrow!

BellaVita · 27/06/2013 21:25

I found it very surprising that I am not in the least bit hungry on the morning of a fast day.

Do you measure the skimmed milk for the cereal Katy?

Cannot remember who it was, but someone up thread mentioned low cal jellies. I have got 6 on order - 10 cals each Grin

hillyhilly · 27/06/2013 21:26

I've survived my second fast day, no problem. I came in at around 550 calories, having had a fillet steak and salad for tea and a chicken salad for lunch (its a good job I like salad). This doesn't feel like deprivation today

BellaVita · 27/06/2013 21:34

Sorry for all the questions... Grin, hilly, do you count the salady stuff in the calorie counting?
