Feel very anxious about tomorrow's lack,of food!

Here's my plan

Breakfast : 1 crumpet with a smidge of spread and cup of tea 130 cals

Lunch: 2 Aldi sesame crackers, slither of ham and satsuma 120 cals

Dinner: tin of Baxters scotch broth soup 130 cals, yoghurt 90 cals

2 cups of tea during day.

Does this sound good?

Well done everyone!

My clothes are definitely fitting better. I have fluctuated slightly since the start but I tend to lose weight every other week instead of weekly.

I am doing my fast day today and then Wed instead of Wed and Fri as we are going away on Fri for the weekend (an eating and drinking weekend)

Purpleprickles · 17/06/2013 18:19

Hearing everyone's weight loss is so encouraging! I'm doing my second fast day today and am going to do my official weight tomorrow. Then fasting again on weds but tomorrow will be the start of my new week iyswim?

I'm starving at the moment but am just cooking my main dinner for today. I find it so much easier at work, this time getting home is terrible. I'm pleased though because on the whole I've eaten sensibly on nfds too, although I did have hot dog and chips yesterday Smile

BellaVita · 17/06/2013 18:24

Purple, do you count your calories on nfds?

I think I am going to spend most of tonight drinking peppermint tea.

Anjou · 17/06/2013 19:12

Good job, everyone!

Bella, good question about non fast days. I'm trying to stick to 1200 on NFDs. Been fine most days but fell off the wagon in the week and did 2200. Bloody pizza!

Had an accidental fast day today. I had a 400 cal breakfast and have been on the go all day. Racked up 1300 burned cals by walking/running with buggy. Going to survive on jasmine tea until bedtime! Clothes feel a little less snug but will do official weigh in tomorrow which will be then end of week 1.

Are any of you really missing anything in your fast days (apart from food generally!)? I'm surprised by how much I'm NOT missing bread. I eat loads - far too much - and I'm cutting it out completely on fasting days as it pretty much blows the whole 500 cals (by the time I've slathered it with lurpak!).

Purpleprickles · 17/06/2013 19:22

Bella I don't because the real appeal to me of the 5:2 was the lack of continual counting but having said that I've been looking carefully at calorie content in foods and trying to choose wisely. Do you?

Anjou I'm also a bread fiend and I have cut my bread consumption massively in the last week which I think has made me less bloated. Off for a walk later, just hope I have energy for it. The low fat lasagne I had for dinner barely touched the sides!

BellaVita · 17/06/2013 19:44

Yes I do Purple on MyFitnessPal. I find it helps keep everything in check. Like Anjou, I stick to 1200 on nfds but they can soon rack up if you are not careful, so I would rather be sure.

I too love bread, but have been using weight watchers malted, this sort of helps the craving.

I craved chocolate the other day. We had some two finger kit kats in and whilst I could have eaten two lots, just having the one did the trick.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 17/06/2013 23:59

Well done ladies!

I'm fasting tomorrow. Had planned today but forgot I was meeting friends for late lunch so it went out the window!! Grin

I miss everything when I'm fasting!! I eat way to many carbs also so it's good to have a day away from them. I'll weigh in first thing in the morning and Tuesday will be my 'official' day. Hoping to get to the gym on Wednesday morning/afternoon and hopefully out a few long walks if the weather keeps dry

AlmostHadItAll · 18/06/2013 09:51

I'm on to my second week, so my third fast day today. I can't say I'm finding it difficult so think I'm doing it wrong haha! Grin

I have a black coffee around 9am. A banana and black coffee at 11am. A low fat yoghurt 12ish. Then I'm busy until 6pm when I'll have a 2 egg omelette with spinach. Just water after that.

Cat98 · 18/06/2013 13:29

It's my 3rd fast day too! I'm going for Ryvita again, then carrots and celery with a little hummous. Had all that now so got to wait until dinner (quorn sausages with veggies!)

When do you all weigh? My fast days tend to be tues and thurs. I'm not sure when the best day to weigh is to get a true reading.

Anjou · 18/06/2013 13:42

Well done to everyone for sticking with it. Smile

So, official weigh in today ... I've lost 9lbs! My scales are from Ikea so they may not be the most reliable. To put it into context, I'm 5'9" and usually a size 12-14(hips), 12(waist) & 18 on the bust. However, since having DS2 4 months ago I've not lost the baby weight and actually piled it on, so there's a lot to lose (3 stone, I'm hoping). I'm currently wearing size 16 or stretchy stuff and I hate it! I was 15 stone 8 last Tuesday morning and 14.13 today. I'm guessing that the first week sees a big drop off and then it levels out as your body acclimatises to the reduced calorie intake? Oh well, I feel good that the first week has been successful and its encouraged me to keep at it. I just went to greggs though, so a cheese and bacon wrap might put it all back on!

How is everyone feeling today? Hope it's going well!

Cat98 · 18/06/2013 17:40

Well done Anjou that's brilliant!

I am hungry but have kept busy this afternoon so it's been manageable. Just had my Pepsi max, dinner shortly! Have never been so excited about cauliflower and broccoli..

BaconAndAvocado · 19/06/2013 20:27

anjou wow, that's superb! Well done you Smile

I'm going to be really interested to see what week 2's weigh in is for me.

I'm sure I won't have lost 3 lb again and wonder if I will have lost anything??

OP posts:
Cat98 · 20/06/2013 08:20

I weighed today and at the weekend. The scales are jumping about all over the place :) the 4lb loss from the first week as expected didnt hold, but my overall loss so far appears to be 3 lb down from last week (after going back up and then down again!)

I'm more than pleased with that, I didn't expect to lose quickly on this diet as I do not want to restrict too much on my non fast days, plus I only have about 7-10 lbs to lose. So as long as they're generally going in the right direction I don't mind how slowly!

Second fast day of the week today. I'm sticking with my usual ryvitas with low fat cream cheese, then carrots and celery with a smidge of spicy hummous. Dinner tonight is two thirds of a salmon fillet (I'll share with ds!) with stir fry veg.

Good luck everyone else fasting today!

AlmostHadItAll · 20/06/2013 09:40

I did my weigh in yesterday morning after my 3rd fast day. I'm 4lbs down. Really pleased with that Smile I had low carbs yesterday and going for my 4th fast day today. Haven't had anything yet, but plan on my usual banana and black coffee at 11ish. Dinner tonight is a cod fillet with sweet chilli and lots of veg.

BellaVita · 20/06/2013 14:42

Cat, you are the same as me with what you want to lose. I have jumped all over too. I pretty certain overall I have lost 4lb. Second fast day of the week here too. I am going to London at the weekend and DH has said he wants me to eat normally and drink too so next week I may have to do three fast days to make up for it.

Well done everyone.

BaconAndAvocado · 20/06/2013 20:23

bella and cat I'm trying to lose the same as you too, it's slowly crept on since Christmas.

4th fast day today and, so far, I'm finding it quite ok.

As I lost 3lb last week, I think I will, probably have lost a pound tops this week as my body adjusts to the new regime.

our annual gourmet weekend ooh, Bella that sounds very very gorgeous! Envy

BellaVita · 20/06/2013 21:03

God, this was supposed to be a fast day.. And it was until DH opened a bottle of Veuve Clicquot tonight for our 26th wedding anniversary and said we had to drink it all as the bubbles would not last until Sunday. Mum and dad are coming to stay and keep an eye on the boys tomorrow. We head off about 2pm to Swindon to meet up with an old English friend who is over from the US. Then Saturday morning we head into London to stay at The Park Lane hotel. We are dining at Murano for lunch and Quilon for dinner (both Michelin starred). We are also meeting up with a lovely mner for pre dinner drinks whose house I stayed at on an mn do last year which I am looking forward to also.

BaconAndAvocado · 21/06/2013 17:44

Even more jealous now Bella Grin

And.....blast! Have stayed the same weight this week Sad

OP posts:
Purpleprickles · 21/06/2013 23:46

Fantastic losses everyone! I lost 3.75lb in first week which I was very pleased about. I think it will probably have evened out a bit now, I also lost an inch off my waist. Yay!

Bella have a great weekend Grin

Cat98 · 22/06/2013 09:44

Aww bacon don't get downhearted - it seems to happen like that a lot! I weighed a few days after my 4lb loss and I'd gone back up! But I'm weighing quite regularly now and they really jump about - but the general trend is downward :)

Well done everyone else and enjoy your weekend bella!

Purple that's fab!

We have family here this weekend, going out for food tonight and roast chicken tomorrow, plus wine and chocolates floating about. I'm planning on doing a mini fast Monday to make up (just ryvitas/fruit at lunch, then a proper dinner) then my fast days next week will be Tuesday and Friday.

Purpleprickles · 22/06/2013 21:58

Bacon sorry to hear that but I bet you loose next weigh in. Did you do your measurements too? When I have dieted before I've seen more of a loss in inches rather than lbs some weeks.

I'm feeling very happy tonight. I was a complete pig at lunch time, I ate over half of a baguette with egg mayonnaise- my favourite- and some crisps and a bit of chocolate cake. I thought as it was Saturday I'd let myself be greedy. Anyway usually despite having eaten something like that usually I'd be starving at night but tonight I'm not. I've actually only just realised I haven't eaten! Now I know this isn't a healthy way to be and I'm sure I'm not turning into one of those infuriating people who say 'oh I just forget to eat' but I guess it means my body is changing doesn't it and in just under two weeks of this new regime!? When I set out to do this I really wanted to change my eating habits as well as becoming super slim so I'm happy that at least one of them might happen Blush

BaconAndAvocado · 23/06/2013 19:59

I'm not too downhearted

I've only got another 6lb to lose so maybe it takes longer to lose as its not that much IYSWIM Confused

Had a particularly "feastful" feast day......including a cream tea which I guess must be around 1000 cals?!

OP posts:
BellaVita · 23/06/2013 20:53

Had a fab weekend drank lots of champagne and ate loads of fine food. Been out tonight too Blush

I am going to do three fast days this week and be very strict in between. Will be going to the gym every day too.

I know I have lost weight, DH said he can see I have lost weight too but I feel I have lost more than the scales are saying, depends where I put them in the bathroom each time they say something different. I kept having to hoick my jeans up today.

Well done everyone.

Bacon, you are like me... Don't have that much to lose but it makes it all the more difficult, but I tend to lose every other week. It will happen. Promise.

BaconAndAvocado · 24/06/2013 14:17

Thanks bella. I too am going to have a hardcore week. Will do fast days on tues and thurs then Wednesday will be very very sensible for Friday morning weigh-in.

Make sure you only ever weigh yourself first thing in the morning, after a trip,to the loo and completely naked. It all helps!

Hello, was wondering if I can join in? My first fast day is tomorrow and I am quite nervous but also a bit excited!

I've been inspired by a lady at work who has lost about 3 stone since January, and who raves about the health benefits. My fast days will be Tuesdays and Thursdays; I'm at home on the first day and work the second so will be interesting to see which environment I find hardest. I expect they will both present their own challenges!

One quick question; can I have Splenda in my black coffee? Thank goodness I can still have coffee - not sure I'm ready to confront my caffeine addiction as well!

I'm reading the book by Michael Mosely at the moment, really enjoying it.

Oh and Bacon I am totally with you on your weighing method. It's the only way!
