@WarningToTheCurious well he has had an attitude spurt so possibly.

🤣🤣

Look at it as a testosterone surge which will only help in the end!

WarningToTheCurious · 05/11/2023 19:19

Congrats to miniWeird 🎉

Mine was like that on hitting 14 - he decided to refuse to race at Districts, which meant a fine 🙄, plus he was stuck there anyway because I was judging (in more ways than one!)

Very nice coach talked him round, and he carried on very successfully for another couple of years before a love of lifting heavy things took over.

We were going to take he regardless and let his coach talk to him. No way were we going to withdraw him from that event without it

@Glittertwins thats great that your swimmer was happy in the end, after all that is the most important thing.

Well done not so mini Weird @itsgettingweird

DS managed to get a (very very small) PB in his last event which he swam a whole 10 hours after arriving at the pool so thats a positive I guess.

Glittertwins · 06/11/2023 04:35

A PB after 10 hours at the pool is great

OP posts:
itsgettingweird · 06/11/2023 06:42

Absolutely. Especially this early in the season where they aren't yet back up to full fitness.

Teateaandmoretea · 06/11/2023 07:22

A pb really is great. I think there is a point/age at which big pbs become very unusual, any pb is a massive achievement.

Glittertwins · 06/11/2023 08:23

Absolutely right. A PB is a PB regardless!

Great that he got a PB after such a long day.

Mine did well with his one race, it was an SC pb, slightly slower than his entry time but that was a conversion and I thought it looked a good swim, though he said he managed to come into contact with the wall at one point which slowed him down a bit. He came out upset over something his coach said to him (I don’t know what as I haven’t pressed him on it), but he seemed happy with his swim later once he’d got over that.

Glittertwins · 06/11/2023 10:39

A SC conversion from LC is always very flattering and can be hard to match up to - it depends on how good their turns and breakouts are on SC to live up to expectations of that converted time as well

OP posts:
Eccle80 · 06/11/2023 10:48

Yes definitely, and it’s an event I think he tends to do slightly better at LC, and it was a decent amount off his SC pb so I thought he did well. He’s swum it a lot and not improved either time for over 6 months until yesterday

Mine can NEVER live u to LC conversion.

All his LC pbs are already quicker than SC 🫣🤣

Glittertwins · 06/11/2023 11:59

This one is better LC than SC too!

Got the last winter nationals time last night!

Yay 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Bet he's really happy with that. They are tough times.

See you in Sheffield!!!

Glittertwins · 12/11/2023 19:34

Not entering that event, too close to the actual time but hopefully in the others entered

itsgettingweird · 18/11/2023 13:42

Good luck to anyone competing this weekend.

We have a meet tomorrow afternoon but just 2 races.

Glittertwins · 18/11/2023 15:04

Is the pool fixed and they're using both parts? There was a problem with the boom/drain cover yesterday but they were only ever using the one pool yesterday.

OP posts:
Glittertwins · 18/11/2023 15:05

(That's in Sheffield if anyone has students racing)

OP posts:
Hellocatshome · 18/11/2023 16:51

We were supposed to be at Stockport Metro gala which got cancelled because of an issue with the pool, instead we went Christmas shopping which worked out way more expensive.

Glittertwins · 18/11/2023 17:24

Gets the Christmas shopping out of the way I supposed. Did they need the meet for county times though?

OP posts:
Hellocatshome · 18/11/2023 17:56

I dont actually know I havent even looked at Counties yet 🙈 We have another gala in December so there is still time if he does need any.

Porseb · 18/11/2023 19:52

I'm following the BUCS results - did a whole lot of students party last night as today's return to the pool seemed less than impressive 😆

Glittertwins · 18/11/2023 20:35

Guilty as charged from many moons ago... I pulled out of my event on the next day!
