Seems I managed to fill the other thread with talk of taking fridges to away galas! And I didnt even mean a fridge I meant an electric cool box Grin So I've started another thread. Hope you all find it.

My favourite judge job was chief finish judge (didn’t happen very often - rarely enough judges). You’d get caught up in the referees gossiping!

Much preferred recording - at least you get a seat and someone to bring you cups of tea.

itsgettingweird · 29/05/2022 20:14

Yep - I'm always first in line for AOE!!!! Luckily not many can do it 😃

Hellocatshome · 29/05/2022 20:17

@itsgettingweird I think funkita is the girls version of funky trunks but I may be wrong.

Todays incident was a rack of back stroke wedges ending up at the bottom of the pool! Love a bit of level 3 madness after all the stress and formality of regionals.

itsgettingweird · 29/05/2022 20:48

Ah yes! I knew what brand you meant and forgot they are called different 🤦‍♀️🤣

I wimped out on doing the AOE course - but I very much enjoyed being able to press the “get results” box and import everything rather than having to type every single time in by hand.

Glittertwins · 29/05/2022 21:27

We used to have a competition between us on AOE and the refs blowing their whistles. Problem is the gallery kept complaining when we cleared the scoreboard too quickly to beat the refs so they kept winning

Well DD claims to like new wetsuit in 15 degree quarry (and it was raining), so we are a happy house.

We're getting through training suits like crazy (though hanging them on the hot water pipes in the airing cupboard can't have helped). I thing we're giving up on Speedo and Zoggs, but Funkita seem to be reasonably bomb proof? I think we have a couple of Finis somewhere (and Arena seemed to last a fair while). Are there any other recommendations?

For girls training suits, teen girls current favourite Jolyn (only available with pricey EU shipping), Amanzi tie backs and Funkita.

All these last really well with little to no bobbling, fading, stretching so while more expensive, they do last and continue to look good.

Jolyn sizing is crazy small and with no local postage is an expensive mistake to make.

I normally soak and rinse suits in cold water with bit of shower gel / shampoo and hang in bathroom to drip dry - no rustiré, no direct sunlight.

Sunlight and chlorine is not a good combo, I think.

My two seem to forget to rinse in cold water and we've not had a problem with any of them so far. I do insist on the racing stuff being rinsed out though!

itsgettingweird · 30/05/2022 12:25

Da get chucked in a 30° 10 min wash with no detergent once a week 🤣🤣

I figure the chlorine keeps them clean 🤷‍♀️

itsgettingweird · 30/05/2022 12:25

But yes to racing stuff being treated like gold dust!

Dd race suit maybe the single most expensive item of clothing in the whole house. I am ignoring the guideline that they should be replaced every 10 galas, that is crazy.

Teateaandmoretea · 31/05/2022 06:53

Replaced every 10 galas. I bet that’s a ‘guideline’ from the manufacturers 😂😂

My daughter’s got a speedo one but as she can fit into 15-16 still (at 13 cos swimmers are usually tall) it was 90 quid. The adult ones are like 200 plus. I couldn’t get any arena ones to fit her at all.

Training suits were both about 20 quid. But they are tiny sizes as she’s really slight so massively reduced. One TYR and one Dolfin.

Hellocatshome · 31/05/2022 07:05

All DSs racing jammers are second hand so probably already done 10 galas at least before we get them.

itsgettingweird · 31/05/2022 08:15

I'm trying so work out how many gala ds current pair have done!

I guess they mean 10 days of racing rather than meets as some are 5/6 days for bigger events.

So...... 2, 2, 2, 3, 2 so far in days. He'll be wearing them for another 6 this season (hopefully 🤞🤣)

Glittertwins · 31/05/2022 09:14

That's definitely a marketing ruse. Same as the ultra expensive Speedo Lazers which may be made and sold in their sizing however a retailer recommended we didn't get DS them as they weren't suitable due to his physical build.

Both of them have racing suits that are in perfect condition after considerably more than 10 meets!

Dreikanter · 31/05/2022 09:48

DS’s Lazers lasted a long, long time - he gave up competing before they wore out. Whilst the RRP at the time was something like £260, I managed to get a pair in a sale for £90. Only over rinsed well in cold water then air dried away from heat. Still have them and they look tiny - I can’t think how he ever fitted into them!

But yes to different cuts of racing suits fitting different shaped bodies - for the women the Diana suits fitted the very tall and slim shapes, the Mosconi fitted more muscular builds.

Draft program for British summer meet out

Porseb · 31/05/2022 14:58

Where is the draft programme? I can't find it on the website?

Glittertwins · 31/05/2022 15:24

Go via swimming results.org

Not at all.

I have kept all the programmes from when DS swam, from little mini meets right up to the big competitions.

And I still check the annual club records to see if he’s held onto his ones!
