Traditionally for many years MN has had an audition thread; so here it is as the auditions start in a few days 😀

We haven’t heard anything yet. I hope they send results out soon!

Luckyfab · 11/12/2018 13:04

Or they might send the results late this afternoon just before closing time to avoid phone calls from upset parents Smile

Harpmum12345 · 11/12/2018 13:04

No news for anyone yet?

Boyskeepswinging · 11/12/2018 13:15

Lucky Grin

mimu · 11/12/2018 13:19

Decaffcoffee, bostik - yes it was the ‘sight reading was ok’ that worried me... not a good sign

Decafcoffee · 11/12/2018 13:26

Still no news..
I suppose like Schrödinger's cat they are all simultaneously in and out until the email comes !!

Doubleup · 11/12/2018 13:36

That made me laugh Decaf!

There are residentials in Cumbria which, believe me, is a very loooooooong way from the south coast of England (says the weary voice of experience)

littleladsdad · 11/12/2018 13:53

Decaf Xmas Grin

Radiodependent · 11/12/2018 15:23

Nothing yet....Ds is not bothered at all but I am getting tense!

Harpmum12345 · 11/12/2018 16:18

It’s a no for us 😭 no surprise there though. Good luck to everyone else!

Nigglenotes · 11/12/2018 16:24

Did you get some good feedback?

Decafcoffee · 11/12/2018 16:25

I’m giving up hope that we’ll hear today Hmm

Decafcoffee · 11/12/2018 16:26

Oh no harp!! I didn’t see your post! Did you get feedback?

Harpmum12345 · 11/12/2018 16:31

Lovely feedback! And like I say he has only been playing for 6 months and is only grade 4 standard (wasn’t even that on application) the experience has been amazing and they have said that they would like to see him again sometime (which I thought sounded promising)
He is only 9 so plenty of years ahead of him.

catkind · 11/12/2018 16:32

No skin in the game just dropping in from the music thread to wish you all good luck.

Boyskeepswinging · 11/12/2018 16:37

Blimey, Harp, if he's only been playing for 6 months and is already G4 then I predict a very bright future! That's amazing!

Harpmum12345 · 11/12/2018 16:40

Ah thanks! I am so proud of him. I know he will be disappointed but we will come back next year with a better knowledge of what is needed.

Rupertswife · 11/12/2018 16:48

Sorry to hear that Harpmum, but well done on the lovely feedback. It sounds like your DS is doing very well.

Yes Bostik, Mimu and Decaf - DS2 also said the sightreading was ‘easy’, which tends to mean he hasn’t noticed the key signature, dynamics or rhythm Hmm. Sightreading is indeed ‘easy’ without those things!

Musicdoc · 11/12/2018 16:49

Sorry to hear Harpsmum... but much better informed for next year.

Trumpetboysmum · 11/12/2018 17:03

Oh no harpsmum . But it sounds like he’s doing brilliantly and he’s still really young .Smile

Decafcoffee · 11/12/2018 17:03

Gosh Harp he sounds amazing!! Was he going for under 10s?

Harpmum12345 · 11/12/2018 17:10

Yes he is a summer baby so not 10 until July

Boyskeepswinging · 11/12/2018 17:16

Loads more years to go, then. My advice would be to get as much symphony orchestra experience as he can. My DS was playing in County at 8 and this experience really helped his confidence, his sight reading and his orchestral technique (so very different to playing on your own). Have a Google at youth orchestras near you and see if any would take him at G4. Best of luck - exciting times ahead!
