Thanks crystal, that's what I thought, but nobody at Brownies seems particularly bothered, which doesn't sit quite right with me.

CrystalQueen · 15/10/2017 23:33

You shouldn't be left unsupervised if you don't have a check, but TBH it's more of a strict rule for residentials (i.e. No dbs no residential). Do you know who your District Commisioner is? They would be able to help. If you are really keen to get going you could register yourself on Join Us go.girlguiding.org.uk/join-us/join-as-volunteer/ but I would recommend speaking to your commisioner first.

Not sure how many I'll have Tuesday night. I know at least two are coming! Having a day of the dead theme. Craft, fun and ticks a world box.

My own dds won't be there - it's gang show sign up night. Younger one's able to do it because she'll be 10 before show week. The excitement in my house....

InflagranteDelicto · 01/11/2017 15:41

Had 6 in the end. Was a great night, we decorated biscuits, made paper flowers, cut out paper art, decorated keyrings and paper plate sugar skulls. All decorated an alter which we gathered round at the end of the night. Really glad I ran it.

Becles · 03/11/2017 21:32

Anyone had ideas for Christmas craft?

The cupboard is full of craft stuff but we're stuck for ideas

InflagranteDelicto · 06/11/2017 08:13

My young leaders are arranging a Christmas card swap. Each girl pulls a name from a hat (they plan to use two hats to avoid the risk of pulling their own name out) and then makes a Christmas card for the name they pulled out.

I posted in Mid-September that I was closing the unit at Easter...had one last try aty advertising....and lo, two ex-leaders have appeared from the neighbourhood. They are both willing to do LQ again as it's been a while and get the DBS/first aid up to speed.
I am thrilled and relieved...especially as my own/family health has been disastrous in the last few weeks so having someone experienced to lean on has been priceless.

InflagranteDelicto · 16/11/2017 08:05

That's fantastic news. Sorry to hear about your/your family's health problems. Now you have these two are you staying in guiding, but as team or taking a break?

ILookedintheWater · 16/11/2017 14:04

Hopefully we'll be a team. I've been running with a full 30 girls on my own for a couple of years and am just worn down. Feeling much better about the whole thing at the moment :D

Groovee · 26/11/2017 18:25

Just back from my DC's brownie holiday. Had fun. I have been doing my bucket list and she got the Centre to do a zip wire for my final tick as a surprise.

I saw that on the fb group - that was you! Looked awesome!

Tie dying tomorrow night. I think I need lots of Gin in ready

Groovee · 27/11/2017 13:40

It was me! Awesome surprise and Netherurd gave me it for free x

Good luck with the tie dying!

InflagranteDelicto · 29/11/2017 07:44

My hands!

Tie dying went well, not as much mess as I feared, and the girls all enjoyed. Two parents came at 7 to help tidy up, one commented that the tie dye area looked like a scene from the series Dexter Grin

Groovee · 29/11/2017 09:00

We're going Roller Skating! What on earth was I thinking!? Cannot skate, this will be a mare!

OP posts:
InflagranteDelicto · 06/12/2017 17:55

Will be a mare but sounds awesome!

Groovee · 06/12/2017 21:17

It wasn't too bad. Some of the girls were amazing! I went flying backwards, most folk go forwards, I was on the skates going backwards 😂😂

Posting before it falls off threads I'm on.

The snow, and ice rink car park meant our last meeting of term had to be cancelled. Gutted. I've adapted a challenge badge and have sent it out for the girls as a challenge to complete over Christmas. Snow challenge, kinda appropriate!

Groovee · 20/12/2017 22:34

Aww that's a shame @InflagranteDelicto

Should have been at DD's chief guide award night but it was cancelled. I've decided to get my Div Com to present it at Brownies instead.

Well I'm starting off the New Year with a bang volunteering at Anglia's Starburst 2018 at Butlins Skeggy. 2500 Brownies are loud....

RueDeWakening · 10/01/2018 13:53

Happy new year, all. We're back on Friday but only for a week as DH is away next Friday so I've had to cancel for lack of leaders. Ho hum.

Still, I have no idea what we're doing this term so it'll make planning a bit easier... :o

And I've just booked our meeting hall for a Saturday later this term, the R/B/G are having a joint slime day. Should be fun!

Groovee · 10/01/2018 15:27

We're doing agility and Healthy Heart. Having an 18th in 2 weeks as one of the young leaders turns 18.
