Well, all my flapping & the girls came up with a free (except tea and coffee) idea! They'd like to put on a show of songs we sing Grin

Should be easy enough to organise that I think.

AlbusPercival · 16/03/2016 10:08

Awesome, its great when the girls help with planning! Hope it goes well!

Groovee · 16/03/2016 17:01

Urgh, I feel so ill. Brownies is newspaper fashion night. Scissors, cello tape and newspapers. Hoping I can die quietly in the corner.

Thanks Albus!

Hope you have a semi-quiet night Groovee & feel better soon Brew

Groovee · 16/03/2016 21:33

I had to tell them to stop screaming during their game but the fashion night went great X

Thanks, Becles. I'm probably looking at September now although it's still not masses of time. Part of me thinks it can't be that hard and the other part of me is stressing already!!

InFlagranteDelicto · 17/03/2016 08:28

Had confirmation from my DC that my LQ book has been submittedSmile fink it's not that bad. First aid course, safeguarding course and one about your section. Other than that the rest was mostly done in meetings.

Our last night before Easter this week, did a lovely craft. Dead pleased I got all the flannels for 25p each.

Mentioned to my dc I'd like to do overnights with my pack, am now considering a joint pack holiday with herGrin

Over Easter I plan to tackle gift aid, it's never been claimed, but a lot of our records are missing.

lucysmam · 17/03/2016 10:50

A lot of our records are missing too InFlagranteDelicto, I plan to make a start with the current girls and keep badgering our LiC for others. I figure at some point my pestering might drive her nuts enough to help me out a bit!

I realised yesterday...8 weeks & she retires! Eek

lucysmam · 20/03/2016 09:38

1st Response yesterday...I'm knackered today (don't think 2 hours travelling each way helped) but found it really interesting and informative. Just hope I never have to use any more than the plasters in the first aid box!

Guides are go - for the June half term if we can! I'm going to visit our DC's unit over the next few weeks and see how they do things & sort out start up grant forms and try to open a bank account over the Easter Hols. Could do with finding out the number for the old Guide unit that used to meet at our hall as well.

Build a Bear all booked too & info sent to DC. Do I need to carry a copy of my risk assessment as well as 1st aid box?

Groovee · 20/03/2016 14:47

We have a travelling first aid kit which Tawny Owl keeps and a first aid kit box in the cupboard.

lucysmam · 20/03/2016 15:08

I have a sneaky suspicion ours will be in need of several items replacing due to being out of date - have asked for it 1st week back after Easter so I can replace anything I need to before we go out to Build a Bear.

& accounts are sorted - rather than getting myself in a pickle, I'm starting afresh from the 1st meeting when I take over so just need a final balance to use as my starting figure. And to get my name on the bank account. That's still proving difficult

AlbusPercival · 21/03/2016 08:09

Lucysmam - are you taking on guides too?

If so, well done you, super dedicated!

lucysmam · 21/03/2016 11:01

I am indeed Albus, it's partly motivated by my girls wanting to continue guiding so not entirely selfless but there are 6 Brownies turning 10 soon who'll end up with nowhere to go from there so I'm going to give it a whirl Smile

InFlagranteDelicto · 21/03/2016 16:33

Wow, go you 😊 that's my long term aim, but I want to do it in baby steps.

Our first aid kit lives in the cupboard but is in a soft case so comes with us when out. I have a good traveling one for walking which I often take as back up.

When I said records missing- that's everything except the register! Ah well, nothing like a challenge

momb · 24/03/2016 14:23

Last meeting of term tonight. Phew! Short term but absolutely shattered!
Treasure hunt tonight and then Brownie Holiday over the holidays so lots to do for that.
I seem to have been planning for weeks so am taking this long weekend off to spend some time on my own house and family. Actually looking forward to a couple of tip runs to clear the decks!

lucysmam · 24/03/2016 19:07

I finally have the form to transfer the bank account from the LiC I'm taking over from but am tying myself up in knots working out how I'm going to order from the online shop from my own account & then account for it on the unit accounts!? Because the transaction will show on my account rather than unit account. Unless I pay a cheque for the amount into my own account first then order then the invoice slip goes in my accounts?

Groovee · 24/03/2016 20:37

Use the invoice to pay yourself from petty cash?

I think that's what Tawny does. I give her receipts and she hands me cash.

OP posts:
lucysmam · 24/03/2016 20:40

I'll have to take the cash first though otherwise won't be able to order anything because I've nothing spare atm.

I think I'm overthinking again but it's confused me!

AlbusPercival · 29/03/2016 10:17

I don't know what the "rules" are, but I think it would be fine to take the cash first as long as the amount matched the invoice/ receipt.

lucysmam · 29/03/2016 11:17

Thanks Albus.

I sat down yesterday & filled in the unit details on 12 gift aid forms & got my head around the instructions for that eventually so just waiting for the certificate back now and previous bank statements to send back off with it.

Start up grant form is mostly filled in - just not the predicted income/expenditure bit, I'm not very good at maths and that was giving me a headache!

Small shopping list written for next half term, wilko helping hands grant form ready to be dropped in, the lady who is taking over with me is off to Specsavers for hi-vis vests if they have any and going to see if B&Q might make a donation. Just need to pop to local asda to see about their token thing (the ones inside the door) and if we could have a discount on buns for our party.

Been quite productive this holidays!

lucysmam · 29/03/2016 11:17

*start up grant form for Guides...

AlbusPercival · 29/03/2016 11:18

wow you are super organised!

AlbusPercival · 01/04/2016 10:05

Anyone have any ideas on how to get my guides who help at brownies more engaged?

I dont think I support them enough. They come every week, but dont join in closing or opening ceremonies, and tend to play on their phones unless I have asked them to do a specific thing.

lucysmam · 01/04/2016 11:24

Would they like to maybe plan and run a session Albus? Maybe something Guides related?

lucysmam · 01/04/2016 16:10

I'm struggling a bit with the expected income/expenditure part of the starting a new unit form, maths isn't my strong point & I have no idea Confused
