Do you have an unreasonable amount of stuff?

I was just taking stock of what my DD has for dance and is as follows

leotards
tights
leggings
school t shirt
school fleece
leg warmers
ballet shoes
pointe shoes
jazz shoes
tap shoes
character shoes
ouch pouches
lambswool
lighter/ matches
cotton wool
sewing kit
surgical spirits
spare ribbons/ elastic
gel knee pads
hair bands
hair grips
bun nets
hairspray
hair gel
make-up
water bottle
toe pads
resin

I daren't count up how much it cost.

I need to qualify this with DD attends three different dance schools which is why we have so much kit.
School A
school T shirt
School jazz pants
school leotard
navy socks
tap shoes
school hoodie

School B
school t-shirt
black leggings (no foot)
character shoes
black socks
script for whatever show is on the go

School C
school leotard
black leggings (with foot)
School hoodie
Jazz shoes

Then we have a 'performance bag' with hairbands, ribbons for exams, hairspray, hair nets, hair gel, hair clips, kirby grips, water bottle.
I also shudder at how much it all cost.

combust22 · 22/09/2014 15:28

Are the schools happy with her cross training like this?

OP posts:
Lonecatwithkitten · 22/09/2014 15:32

Yes they are fine with it. One does tap, one modern, street and hiphop and one does musical theatre no one offers everything.
Her love is musical theatre hence the combination.

taxi4ballet · 22/09/2014 21:20

As the OP plus:

character skirt
chiffon wrap skirts
Belts in various colours to go with leotards
warm-up onesie thing
jazz sneakers
blister plasters
toenail clippers
nail file
practice tutu
demi-pointe shoes
cooling foot gel
shellac hardener for pointe shoes
warm-up shorts
autograph book

donastcolombe · 22/09/2014 22:04

ballet shoes x3 (don't ask)
pointe shoes
black ballet shoes- for using on revolting floor in school sports hall!
character shoes
ballroom and latin shoes
rhythmic half shoe things
tan jazz shoes
black jazz shoes
pointe shoe paraphernalia in a makeup bag- I daren't go in there Grin
tap shoes
jazz sneakers
stretch band
character skirt
ballet skirt x2- for different schools
practice tutu
ballroom skirt
leg warmers
turning board thing

plus a ridiculous number of leotards/tights/shorts/leggings/etc and school hoodies etc for two dance schools and her school dance club. And hair bits. Worryingly, this is reduced from a year ago!

Thankfully no uniform for her theatre group!

Oh yes, and I forgot - under dd's bed is a bag full of her old dead pointe shoes that she refuses to part with (and that I will take ribbons off to recycle at some point) - getting on for 30 pairs of the darn things!

Picturesinthefirelight · 23/09/2014 13:19

Dd has finally got approval for a pointe fitting next week so we are about to add a whole lot of extra stuff to the kit list!

taxi4ballet · 23/09/2014 21:32

Congrats to your dd Pictures!

KatyMac · 24/09/2014 11:49

You really don't want to know.....

taxi4ballet · 24/09/2014 13:27

Is anyone else's car full of hair pins, hair bands, empty water bottles, crumbs, hair brushes, maps and hastily-scrawled directions to unlikely towns?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/09/2014 13:31

Wow, how old are they all? DD is 8 and still on one leotard, one character skirt and ballet / tap / character shoes plus assorted socks and tights. I am feeling a bit nervous reading all this.

combust22 · 24/09/2014 14:20

My DD is 14.

OP posts:
taxi4ballet · 24/09/2014 14:40

Mine is 15

KatyMac · 24/09/2014 14:42

Mine is 16 & started vocational school last week

But I haven't listed her stuff!!

Picturesinthefirelight · 24/09/2014 15:19

Mine is 12.

dancemom · 24/09/2014 15:24

Dd is 8

Ballet shoes
Tap shoes
Jazz shoes in Black and Tan
Highland shoes
Stunt shoes
Hip hop shoes

Leotard x loads!
Cat suit
Shorts and t shirts galore!
Tights for ballet
Tights for jazz

Swords
Baton
Poms

And that's just on a weekly basis if there are shoes or competitions or exams then that's a whole other bag!

KatyMac · 24/09/2014 19:48

After reflection I have decided on 'too much'

Remember she does Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Ballroom,Latin & African seriously and Salsa, Capoeira, Rock'n'Roll, Disco, Flamenco & other Latin/Caribbean (like Merengue, Brazilian Samba) casually

donastcolombe · 26/09/2014 10:14

Mine is 17, and wanted a dance career until about a year ago. She now keeps up practically all the training she was doing for semi-professional dance 'for fun' Hmm

dancestomyowntune · 27/09/2014 19:24

Dd1, 11yrs old:

Ballet shoes, leather and satin
Pointe shoes
Ouch pouch
Character shoes
Character skirt
Convertible tights in pink and black
Tap shoes
Jazz shoes
Jazz trainers
Foot thongs (several different types!)
Chiffon grade 6 regulation skirt
Ballet shorts
Jazz shorts
Crop tops
Leotard s (x about 15!!)
Unitards (x2)
Studio hoody
Studio onesie
Jazz pants (lycra and cotton)
Hair stuff
Deodorant

Wow I am sure there is more !!!!

nerdita · 28/09/2014 12:05

Yes, all that and more as we have five DC who all dance.
Plus mine do acro dance and we have associated gym equipment like pedestal stands, mats, portable barre, that sort of thing. Four different dance schools means lots of leotards, uniform and equipment.

Picturesinthefirelight · 28/09/2014 12:19

Yes, I didn't count the portable barre, gym may, wobble board & resistance bands as they mostly stay at home. Plus a tennis ball (Lisa Howell flexibility massage needs one, towel & massage cream.

taxi4ballet · 28/09/2014 14:46

Barre, pilates mat and tennis ball here too, and wooden massage thingy, Boots cooling foot spray, Nurofen gel, calamine lotion, tiara, nail varnish remover pads, Underground map...

It's beginning to dawn on me why I have no money!

500smiles · 28/09/2014 14:54

Lessons (not too OTT):

Poodle socks
Soft shoes
Hard shoes
Dance trainers
Plasters
Anti-blister cream
School t-shirt
School hoodie
Leggings

For competitions:

Wig
Hair doughnut
Tiara
Fake tan
Enough make up, hair grips, bobbles and hairspray to re-stock a small Boots
A dress that cost more than the dress I got married in
And a roll of duct-tape
