DD has a place at college!!!! I am a very happy (& potentially permanently broke) mummy - I did my own little dance when I found out!

She got a place on the 3 yr diploma at Italia Conti!!

Funding (DaDA) needs to be applied for and is by no means certain, so she might not go!!

But she got a place!!! I am so, so proud!!! can you tell?

Yipee!!!

It's wonderful. So pleased for you both. And I know exactly what you mean - that confirmation that it's not just you (and also me) who think she's brilliant.

KatyMac · 18/01/2014 22:57

Oh I'm crying now - it's been building up all day

Getting up at 5:45 to drop her at the station for 7 didn't help

I knew this was going to be your daughter when I saw the title!

Yeahhhhhhh. Well done both of you. Gosh it seems an age when things were way less rosy.

Get MN to sponsor her.

Congrats and keep grinning madly with joy.

HSMMaCM · 18/01/2014 23:04

That's great KatyMac. DD has been looking at colleges and quite likes the look of Urdang at the moment (which is also in Islington).

Meglet · 18/01/2014 23:05

Well done your DD and well done you for supporting her Smile.

I know almost nothing about singing / dancing, but I know Italia Conti is one of the big names.

spudmasher · 18/01/2014 23:05

Whoooooooop!!!!!! Thrilled to bits for you both!

KatyMac · 18/01/2014 23:10

Katy, I lived in Cardiff for many years, you know all the statues at the end of that episode, I know all of them! That was the scariest bit! Seriously though (not that I know anything about that kind of thing but being a paediatrician I know how teenagers tend to present themselves to 'authority figures' they don't know well) she came across as not only very talented but also very confident, self aware and grown up in her audition video. She is going to do well and you should be very proud, not only for her but for yourself for everything you've done to support her and for giving her the ability to chase her dream

KatyMac · 18/01/2014 23:16

Thanks Sally - I PM'd you - I hope you don't mind

Just watched her video, she's beautiful! Very talented - I loved the contemporary and she has gorgeous arm placement and feet (yes, I'm a dance mummy too!)

She has a lovely speaking voice too, I'm sure she will be a huge success!

KatyMac · 18/01/2014 23:32
Blush

Thank you

Actually that isn't my favourite - I love the Lion King one but I'm biased as that was the first time I looked at her and saw 'a dancer' rather than 'my dd that dances' - which I'm sure you understand

She had been doing ballet/contemporary for about 20 months when she did that

Her Grandad laughs at her accent as it's a bit Scouse, a bit Jamaican & a bit Norfolk Wink

Brilliant - I have been keeping half an eye on the NAPM thread to see if you had any news; thrilled for dd.

saintlyjimjams · 18/01/2014 23:35

BTW ds2's mentor-person went to Italia Conti and absolutely loved it (not dance, but still)

KatyMac · 18/01/2014 23:38

DD's Ballroom & Latin teacher went there; she was asked why she applied at the audition & she explained. The person interviewing didn't recognise the name & they discussed her age DD said she was 'nearly as old as Nana'.....when I repeated this to her teacher she was very complimented....as she is slightly older!!

Wow! How exciting, congratulations to your DD Flowers

sallysparrow157 · 18/01/2014 23:45

Her accent is a bit like mine I think, very un identifiable unless you know it but somehow to those who don't know it sounds awfully respectable (I'm from north Wales and first language welsh so my learnt English is really very English!)

GoodnessIsThatTheTime · 18/01/2014 23:50

20months.....? Did she only recently start dancing???

Huge congratulations :)

KatyMac · 18/01/2014 23:56

GoodnessIsThatTheTime yes - ballet & contemporary, Tap & Jazz were started in Jan 12 so at the time of the DVD were about 16m! She has always danced Ballroom & Latin then Salsa & African -but themore formal bits came much later

Thanks for the flowers Cocolepew I'll tell her you sent them Wink

Bo

Picturesinthefirelight · 19/01/2014 10:24

Boast away!!!!!

When dd got into Hammond I had to keep quiet for a few days as the logistics of her going there involved dh handing in his notice at his previous job where his bias was a good friend.

KatyMac · 19/01/2014 10:28

Thanks pictures

We know where she will be living if she gets the DADA

We now have to decide what to do with the offers she already has - we need to keep at least one I think

Blasted child has let her phone run out of battery but was at least on the right bus this morning
