I have been working on losing weight for about a year or so after I gave up smoking but took to chomping a bag of cadburys chocolate balls in the car instead.

I've lost about a stone, weigh 9st 5lbs at the moment but really want to be more like 8st 12lbs which was my usual weight.
I'm only 5ft tall so extra pounds really show on me.

I've taken up running, (the couch to 5k) but I get really bored and demotivated doing the same form of exercise and so end up skipping weeks etc.

I've now decided to try a different approach.

45mins activity that leaves me a little out of breath daily, that could be;

walking kids to school and fast walk back.
vigorous housework
bike ride with kids
run
power walk
swim session

basically my diet is fine, its the move more bit that I need to get built into a daily routine.

So, if you've read this far without getting bored then please join me and we'll see if we can get fitter not fatter.....

I thought we could "check in" with what we've done for out 45mins if you see what I mean.

Anyway, looking forward to others joining in, if not I'll have my very own thread all for meeeeeee....

Join us on the 30 Day Shred thread. Its a dvd that only takes 20 minutes every day and it REALLY works.

oiteach · 02/07/2010 11:33

thank you, but I'd get really bored with doing a dvd every day and my big issue is time and space to do things.

I work full time, have children and I'm in the middle of an OU degree as well so I'm trying to find ways of being more active daily that I won't get bored with, that will ultimately just become part of a healthy lifestyle and that the kids can maybe join in with as well.

Power walk this morning for one hour, go me.

It was lovely actually, early enough to be cool. I cant lie in in the summer so i think ill probably do the same tomorrow.

owwwch! Sore thigh muscles today, very odd.

Painting the house today, that should do my quota I think. Might go on the Wii sports as well later.

Ended up on a bike ride and walk through the woods with dd. No painting as the neighbours were having some concrete laid, no point with dust etc flyig about.

Went to a neighbours bbq this afternoon and she said I'm looking toned!! After only 3 days concerted effort I doubt it but nice to hear.

Another powerwalk yesterday for just over an hour. Sore thighs again but no pain no gain right??
I'm planning either a run or a swim after work tonight.
Sounds like I'm doing well but I'm actually typing whilst eating a burgerking....

I began a run which turned into a power walk,I think the chicken royale from earlier got the better of me.

Hi oiteach, I'll join you.

I'm 5 feet 2 inches and weigh 9 stone 3. I was 8 stone 11 before I had my DC and although i'm not overweight and i'm happy with being the weight that I am I need to tone up because the weight that i've gained has all gone on my tummy.

I have recently bought EA active personal trainer and EA active more workouts for the wii and they are both great, really gets your heart pumping. I've been doing around an hour a night and the good thing is it gives you a different workout every night and tells you how many cals you burn. I've done step aerobics lunges running and sit ups tonight and burned 280 cals.

oiteach · 07/07/2010 22:07

Cool! My first joiner!

i've got a wii and i really should use the wii fit thing more.......
Sounds like you're pretty similar build to me. My tummy is my worst spot as well, i need a general tone up but the stomach fat just doesn't seem to shift ever.

I've just finished an hour of running, skipping, lunges, squash and sit ups on the Wii,
It says I've burnt 215cals but it feels like more. I've been good with my snacking today which is a big problem for me because I love biscuits and crisps. But I have had carrot sticks, apple and banana for snacks between meals today.

oiteach · 09/07/2010 18:14

hi Narketta. Wowzers! You're really flying!

Snacking is a bit of a git isn't it, I love crisps and am a sucker for them but like you I'm going for the veg sticks instead.

I just did some sit ups, squats and lunges yesterday, I was planning a run today but it is far too hot to do it yet.

I'm off out to tea in a few minutes, I'm planning on salad (pub grub) and then up v early tomorrow for a long run.

I'm going to try the wii again this week i think. The only trouble is the kids join in and take the mickey out of me.
I need to get megafit and leave them for dust, then we'll see who's laughing!

I'll join you.

I've no idea what I weigh at the moment but have lost a lot of weight. I was a size 20/22 pre pregnancy no 1 and 14 months on after pregnancy no 2 I'm a 12/14. I've tried all sorts of exercise over the last year and usually end up doing one of the following:

Swimming
Davina DVD
Running - did couch to 5K but get bored
Treadmill at the gym
Outdoor fit class

Last night I went out for a run around 9pm but the atmosphere was so humid I found it too difficult. Am currently pondering a swim (I do a fairly fast 50 lengths) or another 9pm run this evening.

Narketta · 09/07/2010 19:36

Wow llareggub you have done really well with the weight loss.

Oiteach I usually wait until my two are in bed before I use the wii but if I do it while there up its funny because they both copy me. They are 4yrs and 2yrs.

I have been naughty and had a couple of biscuits today and don't know yet if i'll do any exercise, I'm feeling rubbish I have a stinking headache and its soooo hot!!

Will maybe try and do a little something when it cools down a bit.

llareggub · 09/07/2010 19:48

just trying not to put it all back on now!

Am off for a swim this evening. I have a vague plan in mind that in May next year I'll enter the triathlon at the gym. My swimming will be OK, I can just about do 5K but I've not been on a bike in years! I get very bored with doing the same old thing so think a triathlon might be just the job. I'm a bit scared though; I'll need to be a lot fitter!
