Going to start this programme this week (possibly tonight). I always go wrong with things like this when it comes to 'warming up'
can anyone give me some basic advice as to what type of warm up exercises are best suited to this? (before I collapse 1 minute in and yet again give up!!!

Any advice on this would be great (even if its just to tell me that I must be mental to consider starting such thing on the hottest day of the year so far!!!!)

No expert here but I would start just by walking briskly, swinging your arms etc to gently raise your heart rate and get your muscles moving. You can do dynamic stretches such as arm swings, hip circles, leg swings etc as well. Static stretches of your muscles, ie quad stretch, hamstring stretch etc should be done at the end of run.
