Hi all, had a baby 5 months ago, csection. 3rd in 2.5 yrs. Went back to the gym - 6 weeks later. Just ecliptical training 40 mins 4 times a week. Finally went back to personal training on Sunday, 30 min session. First time doing weights in a year. As you can imagine I'm very sore. Still very sore today. Dying to get back to the gym for my cardio. Plan was 1 pt a week. 4 days of cardio. Do I suffer through the gym today. I've a lot of weight to shift and feel on the backfoot. Advice would be great. Very much a novice here

I wouldn’t go today but try and get out for a walk to get some movement, I find whikst painful that really helps DOMS. If I have a long break I find I can be sore for 3/4 days after the first couple of sessions but then I’m fine so hang on in there. Even ‘regular DOMS’ when I’m going very regularly I find are always worse on day 2 so very usual for you to still be sore today

Thanks for replying. Does it get better? My plan is pt sunday, ecliptical - tues, weds, thurs and sat. I could barely sit yesterday😅

Can you work different parts of your body on different days? Leg day one day, arm day next day? If you’re doing full body it’s better to have a day’s rest either side.

Hang in there as pp said the first session is always a killer and should get better every week. Your plan sounds good but I’d swap one of the ellipticals for another strength session else you won’t really make much progress.

Perfect. That's a great idea. Thanks

Yes it will definitely get better, sitting on the loo won’t stay painful forever ha! Agree another strength session will help you see more progress there

It's always worse 2 days afterwards for some reason. But it shows your muscles are working! I'd go to the gym, and do some gentle cardio and mobility work. Get the body warmed up, then get the joints limber.
