Losing motivation!!

Hi, I’m 39 and I’ve been strength training for a while now. As I’ve reached my late 30s, I’ve naturally started changing my style and now prefer more classic, elegant clothing rather than anything too revealing.
This might sound a bit negative, but I’m struggling to stay motivated with strength training. My mindset has become, “What’s the point?” because I rarely wear clothes that show my body anyway. I’m wondering if I’d be happier switching to regular brisk walking instead. I know I probably wouldn’t be quite as toned, but I’d still be slim, healthy, and active.
Has anyone else felt like this as they’ve got older?

Not really sure what revealing clothes got to do with it! I don’t wear revealing clothes, but will wear short/no sleeve things where my arms are on show, wouldn’t consider shorts as revealing either! Unless you live in the arctic surely there are times you show a bit more skin, like summer?

However, strength training is so much more than your looks. It’s an investment in your future self. Strength training now means better physical health and independence in your 70s and 80s.

Women especially start losing muscle mass faster in late 30s and 40s, so it’s really important you invest in yourself now! We take lots of things we do every day for granted when younger. My MIL is 80 and can barely walk, struggles to get out of chair, can’t hold a hoover and needs help with pretty much all aspects of life. I don’t want to be like that, so I strength train.

Maybe you just need to switch your workout routine a bit? What do you do, how often do you train?

I have never really been into miniskirts and things, but even an elegant short sleeve summer dress and random people comment on my arms and ask what I do for exercise.

Well a year ago I suffered a disc extrusion very painful couldn’t move for a long time. However recently started getting back in to some strength training but my back is in terrible pain again so will have to switch to walks and Pilates.
