What is the best way to lean out?

I feel a bit softer after christmas. Im 74kg
5’11. My usual strategy to drop the fat is to exercise as much as l can increase my steps and decrease my calories. My PT has told me to eat at maintenance or do a reverse diet and increase my calories but I have a big issue with feeling fat/weight gain and feel bigger already.

What should I do to lean out and drop fat? Ive attached picture for reference.

Your PT has told you to eat at maintenance or above to lose fat? Huh? The only way to get leaner is to be in a calorie deficit.

Agree with first poster. Calorie deficit.

Not sure what the PT is getting at- are they trying to get you to bulk and then build muscle? 🤔 Or possibly they think you aren’t eating enough calories for health- are you?

She said I dont have a lot of fat to lose so I should bring calories up and then eventually down again (reverse diet) to improve my metabolism because i have been eating in a deficit for a while
