I am quite fit. I have always had a good base fitness, but last year I upped my game a lot in the first 9 months. However, with some family illness and a bereavement I've not done much since Sept.
As a result I went out hard on a run a few weeks ago, hurt my foot and now need physio.
My week has been:
-
3 runs (6-7K easy, 1 long, building up to 21k and a treadmill speed and hills). I am entered into a half marathon in spring but not sure if I am going to make it. My physio has asked me to do non weight-bearing cardio to keep up my fitness.
-
I do 2 pilates reformer a week (I am going to buy a machine as it is £££££) The class is great, but it is always aimed at beginners now, and I don't feel I am progressing.
-
Weights - I have been doing 2 workouts a week and at first it was great, but now I am bored and I feel there is no progression.
My questions are;
What would be the best non weight bearing cardio to do whilst my foot is being dealt with (Plantar Fasciitis). I have been going on the bike for 30 mins and the cross trainer for 30 mins and pushing up the level to about 15, but it just doesn't feel the same as a good run. I'm worried I'll lose my fitness and won't be able to get back into my running in time for the half marathon.
WRT weights. This is the one I want to address the most. I need a new program, and my goals are a) build strength b) support my running and c) look toned ;)
I thought about getting a PT in person but I've had them before and I don't enjoy them. I would do an online one though.
Any suggestions?
